yuck, don't like wine. If I was a disciple I would have had to pass on the wine.

I would have probably drank it at the last supper though, blood of Christ and all.

Well Brian, I'm not a fan of dry wine. But sweet wine, like muscadine wine, is awesome. If you've ever eaten muscadines, it has the same flavor. It is delicious.

Yeah, but you have to avoid the use of the word "drunk" in these discussions or the promotion of alcohol consumption moves into the condemned activity column.

Isn't it amazing how one or two letters can change people's opinion of you and your "salvation"???

Shellie, thanks for the correction. I might be one of the few people who actually appreciate those kinds of corrections.
Pastor Gary, I wouldn't promote anything Jesus didn't promote. LOL

then dont promote wine with a high alcohol content. according to every historic account i have read the wine that was used in those days was a high grape content with a very low alcohol content to purify what you were drinking. now we have purified drinks that have no alcohol so we can refraine from alcohol intake.

Dawgs, why was it their custom to serve the good wine first?

it is true that there is times that the Bible spoke favorable of wine. does the (good wine) speak of alcohol content? or maybe it speaks of taste. a better berry. what we do know is that the bible tells us do not be drunk with wine. therefore drinking alot of wine with a low alcohol content or a little with a high alcohol content is in direct contradiction to scripture. what most people will not say when defending wine is that you receive the same promotion of good health by drinking fruit juice with high contents of antioxidants. therefore making the health issue a mod-point. drink grape juice, same health effect without the promotion of alcoholism.

Sometimes I think that if we were well drunk these discussions would be way more fun.

Dawgs, you typed a whole dang paragraph and successfully avoided my question. An answer would be nice.
Shellie could help you out with that one!

i can tell you what it was not. it was not so that after everyone was drunk they would not notice. i have read and tend to believe that those that were more important would attend at the beginning and those not as close to the family would attend over a period.(drop in and out). as we all know that a wedding would be over a few days.
