This next year, I think I will opt out of the whole gift exchange. I have too much crap and those I know and love have too much crap. I think I will find a family who really needs help. What do you guys think?

We did that this year, inspired by Advent Conspiracy. We (Americans( learned that if we gave just 10% of all 450B we spend on Christmas, we could give everyone that needs it clean drinking water. So, we purchased water filters through His Hand Mission International, Joel Aycock (missionary) for everyone that we would have purchased a gift for, including children. We made up a card that showed the filter and some folks who had received one. We asked families to continue to pray together for these families and the mission and teach their kids about what was done on their behalf. It sure felt good to not have the usual stress!!!

We have discussed this as well. It would be my desire. It is true that Americans have too much anyway and it is a chore to find someone a gift they can appreciate. Another aspect is those liberials who want to see Christmas disappear and we just have Happy Holidays. The facts are, if we as a nation quit giving, buying Christmas gifts, the ecomomy would collapse. That is why we call it black friday, as the stores go into the red. If we quit buying, it would not take long before Christmas would be back in vogue..............

Good thoughts Rascal. I'm looking for some poor people next Christmas. Celebrating the birth of Jesus (which I honestly do year round) shouldn't be a time of grief but a time of joy.
