Frisco store owner uses name of Jesus to stop robber

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 0ed93.html

Marian Chadwick used the heftiest weapons she could find when a man tried to rob her Frisco shop Monday night – her finger and the power of God. And they worked.

Chadwick owns Extravagant Necessities, a crafts boutique near Stonebriar Country Club. She was finishing a sale with her last customer of the day when a hooded man walked in, pointed a gun at her and demanded money.

Chadwick told him she had none. He pounded the gun twice on the counter.

"I got mad," said the 57-year old, pursing her lips. "The Texas part of me was challenged. So I pointed my finger and said, 'In the name of Jesus, you get out of my store. I bind you by the power of the Holy Spirit."

The gunman took a step back and told customer Kathy Vereen to drop to the floor. After she refused, Chadwick pointed her finger at the man and continued to chastise him. He walked out of the store cursing. He took nothing.

********

Thank you Jesus for your protection!

Ok but I must ask; did she lie when she said there was no money, it's all gone?

Great Question: Do you that God is on record for blessing even when people lie?

Abraham told a HUGE lie to Pharaoh of Egypt concerning his wife and put her in extreme peril.. and yet God still gloriously blessed Abraham abundantly as a direct result of the lie. Even when he was in disbelief... God has his back

Good Stuff, eh?

Well, it wasn't his to take. So, as far as the robber was concerned, it WAS gone.

I think the robber wasn't "as bad a guy" as he could have been or they might have thought he was. Explanation: had he been a worse guy he surely would have used his strength and probably even his gun and checked the register himself. Odds are he needed cash for food or bills since I'd say a drug addict would have used force.
Just my opinion.

LOLOL...... so the Power of Jesus' Name is absolutely moot in this situation and it wasn't what foiled this robber's gun pointing/banging attack? It was because he "wasn't a real bad guy" or was a weak robber? Trying to feed his family? Have you EVER had a pistol pointed point blank at you and demands made? I seriously doubt he was trying to feed his family in doing this. The Govt is handing out food stamps along with free houses around here!!!

The woman states that the power of almighty God filled the room. You doubt that even when you see the video?

Beam me up Scotty.

Sure I doubt it Mac.

There was no audio of the actual event so I must take her word from the news interview as truth and since she was inclined to lie about there being money in the cash register then why should I or you believe her account? There was no visible way to determine whether or not the power of God filled the room. In fact if you listen to her account again you will see where she is not sure about a few things.

IF she was of the faith that the very mention of Jesus' name would cause the man to leave then why say their is no more money?

I seem to remember an account in the Scriptures where a devil said Peter I know and Paul I know but.......

She should let her yea be yea and her nay be nay :D

Absolutely ridiculous.. Dare I say you are "afraid" to believe Mr. Thomas?

1) You have no record of large, medium, small sums of monies actually in the cash register or not.
2) You can clearly see VIDEO of the man with a GUN and the woman's actions.
3) You also have an eye witness from a third party person that also was abused that is not at odds with the story.

Yet you DIE on unknown details.... when the real lesson God is showing is obvious. Open your eyes lad. Much truth is waiting for you.

And Paul also said in Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Also... take it back to the original promise with Abraham. Even when Abraham did LIE and LIED rather LARGE ( put his wife at risk )... did God then abundantly BLESS him in a GLORIOUS manner. Wow.

That's my DAD. ( Also runs off would be robbers with the name of Jesus )

Cheer up and reject your streak of fatalism.

News flash: the would be robber in the video announces at a press release that he too is a Christian and has been for some 20+ yrs. I suppose there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus applies to him as well.

Sure this is not a true account but you judge him as not a Christian becomes he wields a gun and attempts to rob this store but the woman may have very well lied, in order to save her butt I suppose, but then claims that God came down and spooked off the would be robber thus supporting her sin over his.

What if the robber would have said in the name of Jesus give me all your cash?

BTW, I am enjoying this and am in no way certain as to what actually happened. :P

LOL.. Again you are suffering on details that don't exist grasshopper. You are creating hypotheticals when no such are necessary to understand clearly the saving power that resides in the Name of Jesus as well as the lesson God wants to tell His children.

And I'm seriously attempting to help you decipher truth from fiction.. Good vs Evil... Divine Intervention vs Random Chance.

It's ok to Believe that GOD CAN.. Abraham did and this alone made him righteous.

Mac, I believe GOD CAN more than most folks I know but that doesn't mean that God did. Often God is given credit for things He just didn't do (is that bad, possibly so if it gives credence to the unbeliever that knows better) and even more often God is accused of things He had no hand in aka the works of many religious factions and activities.

Ahh.. but the key difference here is that HE CAN and HE DID. No hypothetical details cluttered this amazing glorious result! The Name of Jesus was used as the only defense against a person physically stronger and with a deadly weapon. You CAN believe. You CAN embrace it fully. It also doesn't reflect at all on what stage this believer was at either. She just stood on her New Covenant rights as Jesus said.

John 15:16
16. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

Now.. this is a different point entirely. It's usually the result of a believer looking for validation of personal actions via reward instead of simply & freely receiving your inheritance.

Mac, crimes happen all the time where people are not hurt and money and or goods are not taken and yet their is no testimony or evidence that God intervened. Sure the woman's testimony is that God did just that but again in my opinion her testimony is questionable based on her obvious lie about the cash.

Neither of us were there to "witness" the move of God and by saying it happened based on her testimony then both of us may as well say that everything told to have happened at Brownsville did and you my friend need to run to the nearest TCoG, shed yourself of your gold, and place your right hand on the Bible (I am not allowed to). So until I see you marching around a church house with a flag I will consider that this story is just a hobby horse and that you REALLY don't believe everything that is contributed as move of God is in fact that.
