I do not understand

I am very buggged! May I share
A little bit ago, I came in contact with some people I knew from my "youth" teen-age years.
At that time they were in a group I would hang with at times, they went to churches, preaching, singing songs they wrote. Very talented people.
We all grew up and went our ways..
By the wonderful ways of internet, We have re-connected.
I have learned They are now homosexuals. This was a bit of a shock to me.
We do email. And chat on line once in a while.
They say they are christains, and they do go to a church that dose not put them down for the relationships they are in.
I guess I do not understand.. I know it happens everywhere, but i do not see how a church can say this is ok. When the Bible saids it not.
They are not the same people I knew way back then. I am sure in many ways I am not the same person I was many years ago.
To me they have totaly changed. Married, divorced, new life style....
Sometimes I just wonder what happen to make them think this was "who they are"
