Tornado in Huntsville

Yesterday evening a tornado touched down in the Five Points area of Huntsville. This is a historical area of Huntsville and many of the very old trees were uprooted and tossed on top of cars, and houses. Power lines down everywhere. Amazingly no deaths or major injuries reported. My son was driving directly into that area when it hit. I thank God for his protection. He made it to his destination without injury. My granddaughters also live in that area and they are safe.

McGulley's mom lives in that area. I spoke to her this morning and everything is ok at her home.

All I can say is Thank you Father!

Probably now the single most photographed and videotaped tornado in history. It was like the thing developed FOR the cameras. Incredible photos and footage on the local news.

lives at 814 Halsey Avenue....right in the midst of the destruction.

She was not harmed, and her house was fine...just no electricity.

Several people called me (from the Huntsville area) last night...and I'm grateful to the LORD for His protection over her.

Check this picture as the funnel dips behind the roofline of Huntsville's First Baptist Church (for those of you not from here, there is a very visible mural of Jesus on the front of the church).

We were watching channel 31 news and they have a camera on top of the mountain there in Huntsville (1000 ft above Huntsville) boy did they have some real neat views from start till it went over the mountain. I'm sure it is on their web site. Waaytv31.com in Huntsville.

I drove through Five Points today and yes Pastor Gary, Thai Garden is OK. There's still trees down everywhere and houses torn up. It's amazing that no one was killed.

My wife and I also drove through some of the damaged area yesterday and it's amazing and frightening.
Things like this always remind me that even with all the technology, knowledge and abilities that humans have, we are really very small and vulnerable when it comes to natural phenomena.

macgulley,
Be careful about calling this a "natural phenomena," there are folks on here that don't believe in natural phenomena. According to them if you lived here and a tree smashed your house, then God was punishing you for the sin in your life.

Either that or it was in the Torah Law to be such. :D

 You may be right. I don't know of any pacts between Huntsville and the devil but, then I guess the Chamber of Commerce wouldn't really promote that too much, would they?
