Would you share that on Formerly Fat as an encouragement to the ladies? Several have told me that "it's easier for you... you're a man... I have these hormonal issues, etc..."

I decided that I no longer wanted to be an over weight person or pastor. I have lost 25lbs since January 15th using Dr. Simeon's hCG protocol. It sounded crazy on the surface, but after much investigation and consult with doctor, I am proof that it works.

jessea: I used the hcg protocol also, I lost 30 lbs, my wife lost 20, my sister has lost 55. I started last may and still have kept the weight off.

Paul,

Thats what I keep hearing about this product, thanks for the information its encouraging.

One thing that I am seeing clearly in this weight loss issue is the spiritual side to food addiction. We relate spiritual warfare to drugs, porn, and alcohol and so on, however, how many are willing to admit their addiction to food. It has been and interesting learning experience. Anyway, I am on day 14 of phase 2 of this diet and I am down 26lbs.

Pastor Gary,

I think the politically correct term is not fat but...

Gravitationally challenged.

I've lost 11 pounds in the last 3 weeks on a low-carb diet. Of course, that means higher cholesterol is 'round the corner. At (almost) 43, I need to be aware of that. So, this is no long term solution. I wonder if the hCG diet is really about the hCG or the 500 calorie diet, though. I mean, if I ate 500 calories a day without the hCG, I'd probably melt off fat pretty quickly. (Muscle, too.) What gives on that?

Dolfan,

A lot of people who go on the no carb diet experience a lowering of cholesterol.

that is a mis-conception...Generally when you lower your intake of food, the body recognizes it and slows the metabolism down. so you can reduce the calorie yet not loose weight. Unless you exercise or do something to keep the metabs up and burning.

The hcg keep the metabs up while you cut back on hte high cal's and fats. It continues to burn what it needs...fat and not muscle.
Generally you are to take the hcg drops no more than 21 days. By that time your eating habits have changed. As I said, for myself the eating habits have changed and 9 months later I have kept the weight off and do not go hungry. Also as I posted my A1C which gives a three month average for you sugar...no way to cheat on it. went from 8.4 full blown diabitis to 5.7 which is normal and they took me off all medication. So yoou got a true believer here

dolfan, your cholesterol won't be affected negatively by reducing carbs..! Read the Atkins diet book and have your cholesterol tested.. you'll find that you can improve your numbers by eating a diet low in processed refined foods, especially sugar and white flour. It works.. (I recommend the South Beach diet over Atkins though)

This is the third time that I've done the low-carb diet in earnest. It is the first time that I'm happy with eating this way, and like Yogi Berra said, 90% of it is half mental. I've lost weight every time. The first time was after I was misdiagnosed as diabetic by a CRNP. Scared me good, but boy I lost 20 pounds in a hurry. I've been as high as 228 in the past 3 months. That's the heaviest ever for me. I've weighed consistently between 200 and 210 for most of the past 20 years; I've been down as low as 180 after dropping about 30 pounds while at TC in 1992, but that didn't last. I'm 5'10", so I probably ought to weigh about 180, but that's not going to happen. If I can get to 195 and maintain, I'll be very happy. That's my target range. I never want to see 200 again after this. Strange thing is that I carry almost all of it in my waist/gut. So, that's not good. Good thing is that when I lose it, I'll be a lot more comfortable in my breeches.
