... Saying that he has blocked votes on the legislation to underscore his opposition to the ongoing growth in federal debt, Bunning read a letter from "Robert in Louisville," who told the senator that even though he hasn't been working regularly in the past two years he supports what Bunning is doing.

"This country is sooner or later going to implode because of the massive amount of debt run up over the past 40 or 50 years," Robert wrote, according to Bunning.

"Why now?" Bunning said he's been asked, regarding his objection to the legislation. "Why not now?"

And, he added, if the Democratic majority and many Republicans want to force action on the legislation, they should use the Senate rules to override his objection.

Everyone has a limit of what they can beg, borrow, or spend.. what is the United States?

I was a bit lost; how was it that Bunning alone was holding up this bill?

is such a hypocrite...

Where has he been the last 30 years with all of this OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING?

And if it had been the previous Administration, he would have died before trying such tactics.

The People of KENTUCKY should throw him and his lapdog (Mitch McConnell) out on their ears when the next elections come around.

Phil, no body can win with you can they? I want you to also remember that the last two years of Bushs term that the dumbacrats, I meant democrats had a majority in both the House and Senate.

My thoughts are that if someone does do what is right reguardless of the party shouldn't we at least stand behind them.

and his lapdog (Mitch McConnell)

You would dare to say something about Mitch McConnel with Paloci (SP), Biden and Obama in the House and White House. [-X

Phil,
Surely we can agree that if we all had amnesia of our past starting today.

Would we have the courage to support financial responsibility? Stand against out of control spending for ourselves and our future grandchildren?

The first step to a solution is to admit we have a grave problem.

You are exactly right...

And while I am NEVER for extending the unemployment benefits---it only perpetuates the problem for the most part (I worked for the unemployment office here for a few years), there are other things THIS spending bill was financing as well.

I am NEVER for overspending....Regardless of who is in the White House, Senate, or the House of Representatives...

But where were all these BLOWHARDS when the Bush-Cheney regime was spending the nation into abject poverty? They were all in Congress, "supporting the President."

Again.. if we fully agree now.. then let's not look back again to divide over talking points... but look forward to stopping today's mind blowing generational overspending.

Remember giants are hard to wake up.. but when they finally do.. don't chide them for overlooking during the previous slumber .. but applaud them for finally arriving.

Let's agree and move forward on stopping this out of control spending now. Let's agree to be the responsible adults.
