My son Matthew and daughter Elizabeth went to Washington DC for audtion for biggest loser on March 6th.

My Son made the top 30 out of 900+ and was invited back for a 2nd interview.

He then came home and made a 20 -30 min video and mailed into the show.

Hoping for the best for him. he would be great on the show.

One of my favorite shows, and one of the few reality shows in which the contestants are treated with a modicum of decency.

I know, I'm just "old fashioned" to many, but...

If it weren't for the immodest dress (IMO), practical intentions for it aside, my wife and I would consider trying out.

If Wendy get's selected I hope she does well. :)

Billy, if your son does get selected tell him I'm BEGGING him to wear his "I survived anorexia" shirt during taping for the show. That would be hilarious.

It doesn't have to necessarily incite lust to be immodest, Sis. But, even among the overweight it can. And the more revealed a person is the more likely they are to generate lust, intentionally or not. So yeah lust is a primary cause related to the need for modesty. Yet, again, it doesn't have to generate lust to be immodest.

I'm not going shirtless in public (short of necessity or emergency for some unforeseen reason) whether overweight or perfectly formed, buff, and cut. And I'm not letting my wife prance around in a halter top and tight shorts in public either. Not gonna happen here, 'cause for us (if nothing else) it's immodest. That's why it's not a real option for us. Other folks feel differently, I realize.

Why the producers insist on it makes no good sense to me. But then, they do a lot of things in TV land that make no good sense, much less moral sense. So I'm not surprised. But it still frustrates me. It even angers me a bit. In this case partly because I think they are exploiting these "fat" people, and needlessly exposing and shaming them. I guarantee you they can lose just as much weight and be just as effective on the show, without striping their shirts off (for the guys), or down to halter tops and spandex bottoms (for the girls). Such is the way of the world though.

Exactly! [-X

Comes from verses like...

1 Peter 3:1
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands;

Ephesians 5:24
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

and

1 Timothy 3:4-5
One that ruleth well his own house ... (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

Now, I realize that it is more about her willing subjection to my headship. And, sure, I may not always be the best example of "ruler of the household", or "head of the marriage", but I try to be. It's similar there to respecting leadership in the church, or over the nation.

Nevertheless, headship is established. She may do something I don't like, and have clearly said I don't want her to do, but if she does then she does so against my wishes, and in violation of passages such as these. In fact, any man who will not exert his headship, out of love and duty, isn't fit to lead in the church.

Society may think nothing of it (essentially denying headship of the husband), shoot even many in the church seems to scorn this teaching, not thinking much of it, but you'd better believe God does.

So yeah "let".

I'm sorry Wendy. But then, concerning the quote above, and the comments it is in reply to, you did ask.

Honestly, I wasn't trying to be a kill joy. I hope you do good on the show. I hope you get in the best shape you've ever been. I hope you get healthier, fit, and trim & make Danny strut like a peacock at the zoo.

I was just joining in the conversation. Tammy and I had actually talked about trying out, but when we discovered that meant men not wearing shirts, and women wearing (what we consider, at least) skimpy clothing was required it was no longer a viable option for us, due to religious convictions.

BTW, thankfully my wife shares those convictions, so their wasn't any need to exert much headship. :P

Really! I hope you all the best.
I'll even call in and vote for you (oh, wait. Wrong show :?)

BTW, have you seen Billy's son's shirt I mentioned earlier? I so hope he wears it to a taping if selected. It is hilarious. :)
