Thoughts on Aging

Yesterday my granddaughters came for a visit. Three years old Quinten was siting in a little rocking chair with her feet propped up on a little stool. Suddenly she turns to me and says “I’m an old woman.” Then she says to me “Granny, you’re and old woman too.” Of course we all laughed. Then I said to her “yes I’m an old woman. Do you think there’s anything I can do so I won’t be an old woman any more?” She said “I have to think about it.” Then she left the room and went and sat on the sofa in the den with her finger on the side of her face as if deep in thought. Then she came back to me and said “Granny, if you think about it really, really hard you might not be old any more.”

Well, I’ve been thinking really, really hard since then. I’ve decided that she was right. Oh, I know I still look just as old on the outside. My hair is still just as white and the wrinkles are still there. However, in all my really, really hard thinking, I realized that my spirit was not as young as it could be. So, today I’m going to work on making my spirit younger. I will not dwell on the negative, instead I will praise God for all the positive in my life.

The next time you see me my spirit will be dancing again!

Thank you Quinten for helping me become young again!
