Subscription News is Coming..

Postby MacUser » March 26th, 2010, 4:11 am

The move is to make News Valuable Content again like Music, Books etc.. yet this model is going to flop in a serious fashion. Big Media is over and not even Steve Jobs can save this bloated money grab. AND furthermore if the iPad is seen only as a subscription device.. it too shall fail miserably.

Wall Street Journal to charge 17.99 dollars a month on iPad

The Wall Street Journal plans to charge 17.99 dollars a month for a subscription to the newspaper on Apple's upcoming iPad, it reported Thursday.

The News Corp.-owned Journal is one of a number of US media outlets which have developed applications for the iPad tablet computer, which is to go on sale in stores in the United States on April 3.

The electronic edition of The Wall Street Journal for Amazon's Kindle e-book reader costs 14.99 dollars a month.

The Times They Are A CHARGING

ONLINE readers will be charged £2 a week to read The Times and The Sunday Times on the web from June, News International announced today.

Both titles will launch new websites in early May, separating their digital presence for the first time and replacing the existing combined site, Times Online.

Do you get your news from one source and one source only? If so are you now willing to PAY this source monthly and still be overwhelmed with ADS, Pop ups and Self Starting Videos?

In a time of recession and higher taxation.. something tells me this is a very bad idea. What say you?

I would pay a reasonable rate subscribe to the New YorkTimes. I wouldn't read Murdoch "news" even if they paid me.

No, I wouldn't pay a penny for a news subscription. Any of 'em.

The NYT is not even good toilet paper. They have made so many major gaffes they have zero credibillty.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Depends on how good the iPad app is; we'll know more next Saturday. I'd pay around $3.45 a week, I suppose. But it isn't just for news. There's interactive media, saving articles, community forums and the Sunday crossword among other things.
