Here's the deal an co-worker asked me how to do this, but I'm just not sure myself. Hoping you can help.

He wants to get someone to come in and play the piano, a number of songs and capture that music to some how to be replayed but using a laptop or desktop. This captured music must be good quality and is to be played back where it can be used as an substitute.

How would you do that?

The best results are to use a digital piano that is 1/4 jacked into your audio system. Other than that.. to my knowledge just mic it up... like you would an old acoustic guitar

Here is some digital piano recordings I made years ago.. these are fantastic worship & free mp3's btw.. use in your Church if you desire. The young woman gave me permission.

If something like an USB Mic was used and some software one could capture the acoustic piano and have it on the pc, but then how would one go about playing it back though the audio system speakers?

Is there some type of audio connection?

Yep just plug the PC into the PA sound system.. or just make a MP3 from the recording and then use, ipod, iphone, burn cd etc etc etc...
