I have a friend who owns a store at Opry Mills. Have you heard what the prognosis is for getting the mall back up and running?

concerning the piranha reported loose in Opry Mills

First Report - A pair of piranha reportedly escaped from their aquarium during Nashville's recent flood. According to police reports quoted by television station WKRN, at least two flesh-eating piranha slipped out of the huge 150,000-gallon tank at Aquarium Restaurant in the Opry Mills mall and are swimming in the flooded hallways, where water remains waist-deep to neck-deep in spots. Piranha are freshwater fish, native to South America.

Second Report in response - Most of the fish at the Aquarium Restaurant and adjacent Stingray Reef survived the floods and are contained, according to parent company Landry's Corp. "Aquarium biologists have been onsite since Monday caring for the fish that survived," a company statement said.

Can someone show me in the company response where they actually confirm that there are no piranha loose in Opry Mills? It appears to be a play on words to me. :)

PA, A report today said a year before the mall was reopened but who knows. There are tractor trailers on site owned by restoration contractors and the clean up is beginning. Only today was the hwy reopened to the mall.

I've heard mixed reports on the fish.

My friends Kalei & Dianne Lam had a shop in Opry Mills, and it is a total loss. They told me their home basement is also flooded.

Just one store as far as I know, and I am not sure what the name is/was: I know they sold some jewelry, gift items from Hawaii, and other things.

Opry Mills just posted this info on their facebook page..

While it has been possible for some anchors with outside entrances to view their stores, the common areas of the mall remain very unsafe with inadequate lighting, very slippery floors and buckled wood floors, and very poor air quality. We promise, we are working to get folks in to the mall as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

So.. Unless they had an outdoor entrance then they haven't been able to get in the mall to check their stuff. Mostly the big stores had outside access.

All the stores were underwater.

Gibson's factory lost millions of dollars in guitars and guitars that were in process. We do their work and have a crew there right now. They lost thousands of guitars, Les Paul's etc.

The most tragic musical loss is Sound Check. Sound Check is a warehouse where all musicians stored their gear, their equipment, their valuables, they practiced there, worked on their instruments there, etc. Supply companies were set up in said warehouse to service and supply equipment and instruments. It was a total loss. Brad Paisley lost all but one of his guitars; he had taken his favorite home with him. Anyone and everyone in the music industry in Nashville was affected by this loss.
