Mothers Day Idea

Just wanted to pass along an idea we have adopted as a Mother's Day tradition at REUNION. It's easy, pretty cheap, and appreciated.
We have someone bring a really good digital camera and we invite everyone to stop by after service and have a family picture taken with Mom. We don't have a fancy set-up (but, of course we meet in a place with nice weather and outdoor setting) or anything... just a nice shot of Mom, dad & the kids. Some take MORE than one -- including grandchildren, etc.
I take the shots on a flash drive to Costco (you could go to Sam's Club) for one hour 8 x 10 prints, which we have available for pickup the following Sunday. Always a big hit!
If you have photoshop (or other editing software) you can drop in a church logo in the corner and "Mothers Day 2010" in another corner for added value.

Looking for the "like" button!!
Even though I don't like pics of myself, I'm thinking how great it would have been to have some of my mom with my siblings and I. She passed away when I was about to turn 15 and to my knowledge - there are no family pics

I think it is a GREAT idea!! Namely for me, it doesn't draw awkward attention to those like me, who aren't mom's (desperately wanted to be), don't have a mom etc. Since losing my mom and not being a mom occurred at the the same time, I have always hated to go to church on Mother's Day. My first Mother's Day at our new church a few years ago brought a pleasant surprise. The pastor greeted everyone and then said that in honor of all the moms they had donated the money that would have been spent on gift for all the women to Save A Life, an organization whose mission is to stop abortions by provided ultrasounds, counseling and then they provided clothing, diapers etc. when the young lady decides to keep the baby.
I love your idea!!!

Yeah, Jinjer, the beauty is that it is open to all... non-moms, couples, singles... we'll take a shot of anyone/any group who show up and ask. The prints are cheap (I recall like 50ยข each or so) and the goodwill is priceless. A church of ANY size could pull this off.

LOVE the idea. I am going to print and put it in my church book for next year. I may not be able to be at church tomorrow.

I'll be glad to. I am posting them all on Facebook after I have time to go through and select the best shot of each group, crop for 8x10 format, and overlay a logo in Photoshop.
Here are the finished products

Okay - you asked to see samples, so here they are!

I imported the images. opened them in PhotoShop, cropped to 5 x 4 aspect ratio, scaled them to 8" x 10" @ 300 dpi and overlaid the type & logo, for you "how'd you do that" people.
