This is how I view it, because when we can do this then surely there is "liberty"

What is your interpretation of this verse?

A verse needs to be read in context. What is the general thrust of the chapter in which it is found? That should help. Paul is a master at arguing--trace his thought before and after the verse, paying attention to any "therefores" and "fors" that you might come across. And consider the theme of the chapter as well as the theme of the book of 2 Corinthians as a whole.
