When did Jesus ascend to the Father?

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God. (John 20:17).

Is there any indication that Jesus ascended to the Father after this encounter with Mary?

I know that Mark 16:19 says that after Jesus had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Acts 1:3-11 that Jesus showed himself to them some forty days teaching and showing wonders and signs, then after speaking these things while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Your thoughts.

One reason I asked is that I have heard some say by the KJV "Touch me not" has some to believe that Jesus ascended to heaven to be blessed by the Father and to receive his glorified body.

But I don't believe that is the case just poor translation and interpretation.
That is why I used here the NIV for it translates the phrase "Do not hold on to me" as in Mary were holding his feet. That she may not lose Jesus again, for she thought she had lost him before and where asking whom she thought to be the gardener where did they take him.

I think an important revelation to them and us is how Jesus responsed to Mary. "Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." John 20:17b

They are no more "friend" but a "brother and sister" and God the Father is now their God and Father.

So that same day [sunday] at evening Jesus then appears in the midst of the disciples and show them his hands and side and also told them to touch his hand and side to know that it was him.

I find no scripture that tells that Jesus after his encounter with Mary ascended to heaven. Just want to verify with some of the Scholar's

So in conclusion I would believe that Jesus remain and appear to his disciples three times and each time showing wonder and signs some forty days after his resurrection. Then after speaking with them about them receiving power from the Holy Ghost was taken up in a cloud out of their sight into heaven.

It would only be another ten days until Pentecost when the disciples would receive that power from the Holy Spirit the Comforter.

Since in 40 days HE only appeared to them 3 times then where was HE all that time? Just a thought.

Can't really say, but Jesus also appear to others and spent some time with him. Luke 24:13-32. John makes the point that many other signs and wonders he did are not wriitten in the book. John 3:3-31.

All I know is that Jesus had told them once he left and went to the Father he would send the Holy Spirit. The scripture reveals to us that Jesus was received in an cloud forty days after his resurrection and another ten days was Pentecost in which his disciples was filled with the Holy Spirit.

So what I'm trying to relay is that in the encounter with Mary and Jesus telling her "Touch me not" isn't speaking of his unglorified body that she was not to touch, but that she was holding onto him to not let go. Jesus told her to not hold on to him, but that she needs to go and tell his brothers.

And by the way if your wondering why forty days Jesus remained after his resurrection it would be an sign of Jonah. Jesus said, that three days and three night would be an sign, which spoke of Jonah in the fish also would be about the Messiah and his resurrection. That would continue forty days, Jonah preached to Nineveh for forty days which was determined before their destruction. This forty days Jesus after is resurrection would preach and teach to his disciples of many of the old testament fulfillments that Jesus himself fulfilled. Luke 24:27. (There's another forty fulfillment but that's for another time.)

I am now considering that when Jesus said "Touch me not" to Mary He may have being refering to the laws of purification (Number 19:11-13) that of an dead body so that she would not become unclean. Notice Jesus went to his disciples that same day but not record of them touching him only that they saw him and eat with him, it wasn't until eight days after which would fulfill the law of purification that Jesus appear again and told Thomas to touch him, which after eight days Thomas would not be unclean by touching him.

That explains the reason that Jesus told Mary not to touch him and recording that after eight days Thomas was allowed to.
