I'd probably just go with USPS. A 20 lb. box is going to cost you $40+ if you use the flat rate boxes they provide.

No offence to the US postal service, but from years of experience in this arena I can share nightmare stories. Basically if you use the US postal service they can only guarentee you that the item will get to the said country. Once it is in the foriegn country you have no guarentee at all.
I have had posted items returned to me after one year. Your best bet is FEdEX or DHL......neither is cheap
I just send a five pound packet of documents to Nigeria and it cost me $177.
With FedEx or DHL you have the quarentee that it will reach the person.
Also make sure that you fill out the custom form where is ask declared value...place the least amount of value allowed. Reason is that many countries will charge import taffiff at the same value.
so if you declare $100 value it may cost them $100 to get it out of customs.
DHL is by far the most reliable overseas carrier...but not cheap by anymeans

Just talked to who I know to be a very knowledgeable clerk at my station. Here are the choices she gave me.
Priority Cost is 148.50 with a free $138.00 insurance
Express 163.00
The flat rate boxes are up to 20 lb so you would need the 20 lb (large)
and the med box. The 20 lb box would be 55.95. The med box would be 43.45
All shipments to other countries take 6-12 days. Fill out the free customs form and your items can be tracked online with that tracking number.
Any other info I can get for you just let me know.

Right, but the USPS cannot guarentee delivery once it reaches a foriegn country. There is where the problem generally occurrs. Once it reaches New Delhi it can take weeks or longer for actual delievery. Aslo Oversees postoffices are nortorious for pilferage.
Not being negative, just 14 years of a leraning curve that came at a large cost.

Thanks for the info.
Pretty much what I expected. $$$$ Was hoping for a little known
in house trade secret from you guys.
When my wfe checked in the airport on the way to India she had to lighten her luggage.. LOL We had an empty suitcase with us in case this was to happen but The stuff she took out was not worth $100 the extra bag was going to cost.
But what she took out was mostly crayons and markers etc.. I had thought about shipping but UPS was looking at almost $200 or more I found on there website.
Sending/ transfering money is the best..
And Yes Paul Ms Betty did hear some horror stories about packages being shipped to India and the items not arriving. She even heard of some packages opened up . The best stuff removed and repackaged.
She and Joyce are making plans now to return the last of Feb/first of March.

Billy in case you might not be aware, you can send money via western union from your home computer. the cost is the same as if you go and use an agent. Very simple process.
http://www.westernunion.com
What is nice is that you will get an email comfirming the transaction and also a email letting you know that it has been picked up. you can print them out for a permanent record. Funds can be picked up Same day
