Run virus and spyware scans on it in safe mode, cleaning those things up may take care of it, and won't hurt anything even if that's not the problem.

When is the last time it was restored back to original setup. I find this fixes a lot of slow and sluggish computers.

This blue screen does it have any code numbers something like (Stop 0X0000000A) if so I need to know that code to tell me if it's software or hardware. I will tell you if it's software then doing a restore point would maybe solve this error, most of the time it's a corrupt windows file. If the restore doen't work then one can do a copy to harddisk.

I'm assuming this is windows xp. Let me know and I will walk you through this copy file in recovery. Now if window vista place the install disk into the cdrom and boot work through until you get display menu that has the recovery 'fix problem' and this will scan for any corrupt files and fix them.
