When God acts suddenly

Pastor preached a message some months ago about God acting suddenly but not quickly. It is true, as he said, that often the hardest part of waiting on the Lord or of pushing through to the end of a hard time or what seems like a time of silence from heaven is the time just before God does something "suddenly".

The Bible is full of wonderful examples of God acting suddenly. One, I guess, that strikes me is David's psalm in Psalm 6. Read it for yourself, if you like.

Gaps between knowing from God what His word or promise to you is and the "sudden" reality of God doing what He said or promised are tough. Now, it is a far cry from who I was not all that long ago that I would even bow down and condescend (and, I use those terms sarcastically at my own self) to think that God would do such a thing as speak to me directly anymore. And, that change in me to believe that, yeah, He sure does! speak to me still (and wow, how!) was itself rather ... sudden.

The waiting is happening again, but in a new and terribly hopeful way. I say terribly because there are some pretty terrible (i.e., fearful) things happening but so tied up in hope in God that I'm quite happy about the terrible, too. But, today that sermon came back to me and I've pondered on it some.

So, I'm asking you...... when has God acted "suddenly" in your life? What can you share about God's acting in His own time, and then acting suddenly?

I'd LOVE to hear it.
