I would have replied on the other thread, but from my phone the reply button is not visible. We are ok, but our community is not. Last word is 13 dead in our community. No power. Yes, store is open, selling lots of cokes and chips and bread, etc., but no power so no gas. Generator wont work with our pumps either. Store about 5 minutes from us wiped out, one of owners (wife) killed. Another man found dead up a tree. At my wifes nieces house in Hartselle tonight with electricity and hot water.
So many dead in Alabama. Anyone heard from Pastor Ables?? Hackleburg, Alabama is just gone. So is Phil Campbell, AL, pretty much. Tuscaloosa is a war zone. Way worse than 1974.
So sorry for your neighbors and friends

Glad to hear you are OK Tim. We survived as well with no damage, but have been without power since Wednesday night. There is devastation just a few mile from us. We had already planned a trip to TX many months ago for this weekend, since the airport was fully operational we went ahead and came out here. We will be flying back tomorrow, still no power but it is coming up in some places. We both have to be ready to return to work if power comes up at our places of employment, even with no power at our house. I have no complaints with any of it, I am just thankful!!!
Many prayers and much work will need to be done for so many. My county, Madison and many other No. Alabama counties/communities have escaped the media coverage and are suffering, and they have STILL not been designated as disaster areas. Please pray for all the victims.
Much love to my Jude2 family,
Jinjer

Jinjer, hopefully your electricity will be on soon. Ours came back on a few minutes after 3 PM today at home. Very relieved, but after going through Chalybeate today outside Moulton and seeing a lot of the damage here up close, I could've gone another six months without power and would've been unscathed by it in comparison. I know you guys feel that way, too.
When Ritchie Ables and I went down to the Gulf Coast after Katrina, I was astounded, shocked and every other feeling like that. Unbelievable. This -- though not as widespread, certainly, as a hurricane's size -- was worse. There were spots of damage that we saw that were like this, but just the scope of utter destruction? Nope, this takes the title.
You will have to see it for yourself to believe it.

I know what you mean Tim. Volunteering in the Pleasant Grove area today I just broke down and cried, and prayed of course. UTTER devastation. I can't even put into words the total, dismissal, plight of it all. But ... grace and hope is there in spite of it all, and it can be seen as we let our lights shine.
Blessings,
