Harper Hunter

Postby Pastor Gary » May 28th, 2011, 9:12 am

I heard from Dr. Harold & Sondra Hunter (via Facebook) that another COGOP legend of that generation is very close to the end of his days on earth. Harper Hunter is living out his final days and the family is around him.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Bro. Hunter was a great teacher in BTI, he kept your attention, and told some funny stories.
May your golf ball land in the greens not the still waters.

Home at last, cares all past, ever to rejoice

Postby Pastor Gary » June 6th, 2011, 7:52 am

To All Who Loved Bishop Harper Hunter: My father-in-law has just stepped inside the gates of the Celestial City of God. Dad is with Jesus. No sad farewells for him because he is bowing before his Redeemer; he is singing and dancing and playing that tamborine (with his own unique style)--rejoicing that he has arrived home at last! Hallelujah . . .

I remember the one and only time

Postby Phil Hoover » June 11th, 2011, 1:20 pm

I was ever in the office of the State Overseer of Alabama--1979 when Brother Hunter was the State Overseer.

It was on the way home from Youth Camp...

I asked him to pray for me...I really wanted to "find God's will for my life."...

He prayed, "Precious Lord, take Phil to places he has never been before, and bring him safely back..."

That prayer has been answered THOUSANDS of times.

It was a beautiful service. The more you hear about Bishop Hunter and his heart for the lost, the more you are blessed. And challenged.
"...The life you see me living is not 'mine,' but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that."- Galatians 19:20 (The Message)
