I think Face Book has taken the internet by storm. Many church people I know that use to visit here are now socializing on Face Book. It seems more personal.

There have been only 2 or 3 people ever banned involuntarily here. Not sure anybody ever feared being banned.

I think

I think that a lot of the change that was needed happened. 8)

Jude2 helped in that process.

Facebook has surely taken over, and Twitter to a lesser degree. I do Twitter, but do not personally do Facebook anymore (haven't in about 2 yrs or so to any extent).

What this forum gives, but not as many seem as interested in doing nowadays, is a way to discuss ideas in depth. Not saying that's all it has been good for, but certainly you don't get into deep discussions on FB and positively not on Twitter (without linking externally).

I still check in almost daily; I used to log in more than I do now, but I still peek.

Another feature of J2 that has -- IMO -- disappeared is that once upon a time there was a lot more venting about COGOP here. For a lot of very good reasons, that process petered out. Best I can tell, what's mostly left are people with no axe to grind on that or people who have grown a bit and moved on. Misery loves company, and when the misery level dropped, so did a fair amount of company.

One more: some people got fed up with a lot of the back and forth about COGOP and pet doctrinal debates. Some very fine people who were here when I arrived (as someone with no connection to the COGOP anymore) in 2004 left because of one of the aspects of J2 that I find appealing -- the discussion. We're all different, and their tolerance of the kind of discussions just left them wanting not to be here and so we've quit seeing them. I can't say they shouldn't have vanished since that's everyone's own decision and what have you, but I will say I really did enjoy their being here (I think I got long-winded on that here not too long ago).

I still like J2 very much. I do miss the frequency of participation. The opinions of people here matter to me a lot for a guy who's only met a few of you.

I am guilty of being on Facebook too much. But I do like Jude2. So I been coming here at least once a day. Sometimes I just not logged in. There was a time I got where I wanted to quit Jude2 all together because of personal reasons I rather not say since I dont like bringing up old fusses and all that is over now and forgiven.
So I guess Jude2 is stuck with me. :D

I have loved getting to know people on Jude2 through the years. It was on the first wave of online communities. Obviously, I think Facebook and social media have taken a lot of the wind out of the sail. We loved this community and way of communicating and so many times, many of us tried to get our friends to join the fun. They didn't, but they have joined Facebook, so it's just a bigger pond where we can keep these J2 connections and cultivate/maintain others. We all now have our own little Jude2s, with varying degrees of mercy, peace and love. :-)

Dolfan is brilliant and brought up another keen observation. Jude2 gave voice to people who perhaps felt they had none and in present day, there are many opportunities to do that.

I still think there's a place for a board like this and a "comeback," so to speak, may be in order.

Good, good people...

and an active board is always good for us all.....as long as we keep it Christian, and civil.

Its all about time and choice. For me, when not working, I hit facebook to see what people are up to.

I loved J2 and still visit. It is a great place to "converse" with people who share similar beliefs and while I dont engage in the deep debates, I love to read them. Helps me see how people think and where they come from and proves that God created us all uniquely. I hope this place never goes away.

I have a feeling as the next Assembly rolls around, or the next big "changes" are being discussed, Jude 2 will serve it up again.

I haven't been on jude2 as long as some here, but like to debate and discuss hard topic's which many don't. What I've found out from a number of other forums that I'm a member of is that some die down due to FB and other media's, but then other's die down because lack of topic's that people are willing to share and discuss.

Some will not even take another look at a topic in which they have readed and heard preached many times only to take someone else paradigm. Some of these topic's lay dormant.

Yet I'm on a couple of forums that stay active even gaining new members seem like every day. They look on what the topic's are and want to join in on the discuss. That once was here, but that seems to be missing of last.

I didn't say people were being banned, just the fear of it. And that's not always a bad thing! When I read some people's facebook, I wish I had the ability to ban them froma computer altogether.

I believe that many of the much needed changes in the COGOP happened because of a push from this board. I believe Jude2 was very instrumental in helping the pass the "Marriage Document" at the GA. This forum debunked alot of myths, gave people a safe place to discuss the subject & pushed for much needed reform.

I also believe the mending between the COGOP & COG probably was accelerated because of Jude2. Jude2 has done alot of great things.

The unfortunate thing, is that since we have seen resolutions to many of these things that held back the COGOP for so many years, we have also seen a decline in posting on Jude2.

Although I am no longer a member of the COGOP, I appreciate Pastor Gary & the rest of the mods who helped to make the organization what it is today by using social media. And I'm glad that I got to be a part of it!

Like the myth that Marriage is for Life.

I do think the issues fueled much of the activity on the board. What will be will be.
