I am co director of our VBS and the VBS photographer

I was sent this today- and I just wanted your thoughts on this-

Do any of you have a policy in place for putting pictures of your congregation on various social networking sites?

Also, how do you go about identifying who has a release and who doesn't...especially at large events such as VBS???

Would you put the church name on the photos at the bottom?
Bridge of Hope Photos?

I have told them if we was to put this in place, I do not want to do it this year, snice VBS is in 3 days. Something we could talk about for upcoming events

Any ideas/thoughts

Personally, IMO, if you don't have a policy where:

1. Only people (if minors, their parents) who give you written consent appear online AND
2. No children are identified by name AT ALL

then don't put them online.

I can't speak to the legal issues involved, but we print this disclaimer on every bulletin, and -- unless someone specifically asks to opt out -- we make the assumption that they are okay with it:

"Reunion is being live-streamed & video-recorded for delayed broadcast on Oceanic Cable Channel 49 (‘olelo) Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. and on TBN.

Digital photos are also taken for website & promotional use.

By your presence here today, implied consent is given for non-commercial use of your image and/or voice incidental to these recordings/photos."

the photos I put on the VBS page were people I know who would not care, I had mostly staff on line with their kids. We are in the works of making a cd thtat will have everyone in it.

We have talked about this some, and are thing to decided if we need to put something on the VBS application.

Then we thought, they take photos at camp, and do not ask is it ok. They take photos at state conventions and do not ask is it ok..

So how do we know what is right?

I like what pastor Gary has

I do not know what we will do next year--
