Is Perry Stoned?

I've heard two messages lately by Pentecostal MegaStars that have just about broke the Camels back when it comes to listening to Pentecostals.

I've been lying back for quite a while thnking perhaps I am just not with it, not spiritual enough, or maybe I am fatally flawed and Toxic as a person who I considerd a brother said.

But I recently caught a message by Perry Stone on the Religious Network that makes me think different. Stone was at Capernaum preaching from the ruins of the city, surrounding him on the stones were men with beatific smiles.

Stone was speaking on Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. If you READ MAtthew 24 you know this passage comes from out of a list of terrible things that Jesus said will happen.

Stone proceeds to say that this verse is NOT about enduring all the terrible things that happen Jesus was talking about.

THis one passage refers to "Enduring Personal offense" [Apparantly Jesus was confused up to this point and failed to mention that]

So Stone rips this verse out of context, pulls another subject out of his posterior and says THIS is what Jesus was Talking about.

And the old men around him smile beatificlly, and my Facebook friends shower him with accolades and The Church of God in Cleveland are so very proud of their lisping MegaStar.

AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS GUY IS NUTS?

I'd go on to talk about T D Jakes preaching about the camels bringing gold to Baby Jesus means we have fortune coming our way but I'm just exasperated at the sheer gormless idiocy of Pentecostals today.

Gerald, if by now you haven't learned that most TV evangelists aren't your best examples or teachers?

I figured you'd know that by now!

You are right!

What I CAN'T understand is all the COGOP members who run around praising these people or studying their books in "Bible" study.

That makes me consider possibilities:

1) The average COGOP pew warmer is an idiot.
2) THe average COGOP pew warmer IS NOT taught sound doctrine.
3) The average COGOP PASTOR does not warn his sheep

I wouldn't say it is "Average", but my guess is the church close to you, or a few close to you are more caught up in it, I haven't seen it as much around here, but I've seen a few. And there are still those that believe putting them on TV and in front of a large crowd must mean they are great. Just like if it's in print it is true and if they are famous their opinion matters, not sure why people are that gullible, but people do fall into that.

Heloo Gerald....long time since we have dialoged...trust you are doing well ( and I mean that )

Is it any surprise that tens of thousands of Pentecostal people are flocking to many of the Evangelist and TV pastors refered to?

Is it possible that some just want to find a religion that fits them and allows them to live anyway they want?

Is it possible that many are looking for anything that might remotely look like, act like, smell like or resemble a move of God. Something that might (in their oponion, have life instead of dead, dry yesterday preaching.) And therefore are easily deceived?

My response to my own questions are (1) No (2) many (3) the majority
IMHO

Nobody in The Church of God claims him  joking...

Gerald as you know I cant stomach the TV evangelist WOF movement, I dont care what church they are a part of. For the most part the word

"pentecostals" Have turned into a bunch of heretics and heirlings. No truth, just false hoods and fantasies. People that want to hear things that are pleasing to the flesh not salvation.
They enjoy the fantasy of getting rich more then God!!!!

As i posted on FB I woke up one morning and a tv /pentecostal preacher was on tv and said the word "seed" 25 times in 1 minute ( yes after the first ten, I timed him and counted, he would have hit 50 in another few minutes for sure but after the minute i turned the channel) it is nauseating. I cant understand how people believe this stuff except many of the masses do not care to study but just want their flesh appeased.

I personally refuse to watch it at all. I can watch Donnie Swaggart some times, especially when he preaches on the WOF movement

I understand your frustration, we need real annointed men and women of God to be in the pulpits and preach truth. However as you know Truth is not popular and doesnt make you rich.

A great example is how does anyone send peter poppoff money? he was already caught once?????????

Disclaimer: nothing in this post is reflecting COGOP or COG or any other honest hearted bible believing church. Just the Mass majority of people that can stomach the tv garbage that will cost us all our tax exempt status one day

Paul thank you for your comments.

THis brings up several thoughts:

WHY do Pentecostal preachers consider themselves SUCCESSFUL if they are Better Ear Scratchers?

WHy do they believe they can preach on just about anything OTHER than the Bible?

WHY has there been so much a divergence FROM scripture to POP psychology, people pleasing ideas and themes?

HAVE we as Pentecostals been SO INCULCATED with WHAT a "move of God" is that we have become unappreciative of his day by day graces?

If God "upholds all things by the word of his power" (Heb 1:3) what does that make of us when we focus on the Sparklers and Fireworks of his "ooooh and Ahhh" interactions with us???

IS such thinking part and parcel of the Pentecostal mindset to such a degree that they are directed that way from the start?

I have actually heard Pentecostal Preaching that describe Fate, randomness and Chaos as supreme and God jumps in every once in a while IF we're good enough.

So basicly I return to my original thought: Pentecostals are easily decieved because of incompetent training from their Pastors (and even many of the Pastors are carried away with dissimulation)

Well as far as I know Perry Stone is NOT WOF.

I could be wrong.

In this instance he was INSISTING that HIS version was MORE ACCURATE than Biblical COntext.

WHat concerns me is that no one to whom he is accountable (assuming he is accountable to any one) had the Biblical KNowledge to see that he was KICKING JESUS OUT and PUTTING PERRYS OPINION IN.

Perry Stone has been on my DANGEROUS list ever since I saw a book he wrote where he was telling people to Live like Jews in order to be blessed.

MORE Pentecostal idiocy.
