Really?

Your statement proves the point I was attemting to make.

We have been told to believe that if we dont have wealth, prosperity, hunky-dory lives then we arent really worshiping God or arent even Christians.

I do not believe that is Biblical.

I do not believe a man who preaches that is preaching Bible.

And I'll tell any such "preacher" to his face.

I'm sorry, but I have never been told such.

You really need to find a good Bible believing church if you are hearing such nonsense.

Lets remember that worship has never being about emotions. Never how long one prays or how loud one prays.

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. (Rom 12:1)

Therefore 'worship' equakes to service that of the temple.

Becklr, your quote is from the American Standard Version and when you go to the KJV and the commentaries you find that though ASV uses the word "worship" the KJV use of the word "service" better serves better the whole verse by it more of a way of living for God then a worship service or how we act in a worship service.

Gerald;
"We have been told to believe that if we dont have wealth, prosperity, hunky-dory lives then we arent really worshiping God or arent even Christians.

For Gerald and others If you get saved and there is not a change and you can't feel anything then you've not saved. Salvation is Spiritual and require a change, you know "a new creature in Christ". Even sinners can feel the present of the Lord when He is near. That doesn't mean that all is roses cause even with the roses there are thorns. It also doesn't mean that God want bless us sometimes.

I think that Paul sums it up when he said:

Php 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Php 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

It's very easy for us to believe that because someone responds differently than we do that they must not be experiencing the same thing. The reality is that we are all individuals who usually respond to things in ways consistent with our personalities. Some of the most Godly, committed and spiritually mature christians i've known were very subdued in their worship, more often moved to quiet tears than shouting and running the aisles.
Some seem to believe that screaming the loudest, running the fastest or jumping the pews on Sunday makes up for the way they live the rest of the week.
Don't try to put everyone in your box and say that if you don't do it the way I do it you're wrong.

Macgulley, I completely agree with you and didn't say how people responded.

I do believe however that a true worshiper will be filled with emotion within. Filled with joy, relief, happiness, excitement, love, etc. Those emotions would come from God responding to the spirit of the worshiper and has nothing to do with how the worshiper responds to such emotions.

For example I may weep due to the feelings I receive when worshiping but my wife may not though we may be experiencing the exact same things in our spirit.

I think you missed my point. Worship was that of the temple. For those that came to do service as such as lighting the candel stands. Service is rendered worship. The parallel is that we (our bodies) are the temple of God as by doing service to him we worship him.

Therefore what we think of worship isn't or shouldn't be how emotional one gets in church. If we do his will we worship him in fullness.
