I am more afraid of UNREGULATED BIG BUSINESSES, than I am of big government.

Look at the mess created by "unregulated big businesses" in 2007-2008, i.e. Wall Street.

I think the 2007-2008 mess was MOSTLY government regulated businesses that caused the problems. The whole Fanny May and Whatever the other name was problems were government regulated to begin with.

Yes we had some private businesses that were hit hard and got bailed out. GM for example had just done a major buyout of another company assuming a great deal of debt, thinking they would be able to cover it, but when things crashed they were not able to, and had to take a bail out. What wasn't reported was that they also had everything PAID BACK within a year I believe.

I'm not sure we can call those problems "unregulated big business".

I'm thinking more about the HUGE BANKS on Wall Street...the "too big to fail" people.

In my opinion, if you are "too big to fail" --you are TOO BIG!

Unregulated? Who? Bathroom flushes are regulated now.

I hear you, Phil, but that is like saying I am more afraid of being beaten with a bat than with a piece of lumber. The government IS the bank. The bank IS the government. Or, fill in "big business" where I typed "bank". There is no such animal as limited government. It is a tautology, outdated now, that is leveraged by the many power groups that capitalize on rhetoric that sways voters and contributors. The conservative edition of smaller government is like a robber explaining his defense by saying he killed someone with a cheaper gun. You can have them both, if you like.
