U streaming, hardware

Our church started U Streaming live a couple of weeks ago. The iMac we use is borrowed from the youth room. Until this week, I was unaware if the power required to stream live. The dual use of this computer is creating logistics issues for what we do on Friday nights as we have our discipleship meetings in the youth chapel/room, and we use that computer to project video/graphics.

I am curious then as to recommendations for a good Mac family product to stream live with. We use a Canon XHA1 video camera for streaming. Money is, if course, an object. But, the right tool will likely be one we pursue. Our web traffic skyrocketed after one week of streaming. We have to form a strategy of turning viewers into live warm bodied participants.

Thoughts appreciated.

Are you wanting to stick with laptop, or would a desktop option be considered?

I think the cheapest route to go would be a Mac Mini, plug it into an old monitor for basic display purposes, and you'd be ready to go.

I haven't checked the specs on them recently, But I thiink you could find one much cheaper that will fit your needs as compared to a laptop or powerhouse Mac desktop. The iMac is also a nice option, but again you can probably find a display cheaper and go with the mini.
