Prayer request for me

I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist on January 2. I am in more or less constant pain for a few weeks now, and other issues that go back for many months. I suppose being in your mid-40s and male and all that goes with that, that this is my turn.
Yesterday was my first appointment, with my family doctor, that I had put off for a long time. I shared with him what I thought the problem was. Turns out the internet is not all that reliable as a source of information. Who knew?
Anyway, he says what I thought was the problem is not the problem. He made the referral to the GEENT.
Two problems have become rather sudden. Some pretty real pain in my "gut" is one of them. Some days there is little to none. Other days, like today ---- not so much. In fact, I'm thinking of going home to lie down with a hot rice sock.
(It helped last week once.)
Guys, I doubt anything is seriously wrong, but I'm hurting physically and a little concerned. So, if you don't mind, I'd appreciate your prayers for me.
Also, yesterday, after leaving the doctor's office, I stopped by a hamburger joint to grab a bite of lunch and check emails. My friend and colleague, whose only son (26 years old and on his way to night law school class in Birmingham) was killed in a car accident two weeks ago, was there with his wife. They invited me to sit with them. They are pitiful and broken. I feel so deeply in despair FOR them. Please keep Dwight and Karen in your prayers.
