My mentor Professor flagged a generalized statement I made in the draft of the introductory section of my D.Miss dissertation... I used the phrase "multiple splinter groups" and he insisted that I must precisely quantify that, as multiple is too vague and open to interpretation. (He, of course, has no idea of the complexity of that answer. I finally decided to search J2 and use Hoeffling's COG Family Tree as my point of most accurate information, and have cited it.
