Quote found on FoxNews:
“We are not causing Terri Schiavo’s death. We are removing a medical intervention, just as if you were attached to a breathing machine or a ventilator and I say, ‘You know what? I don’t want this anymore. Please stop it.’ The courts have said that you have that right,”

You know what bothers me? If this were a cat or a dog and we starved it to death someone would have to pay.

Here in Ga a couple years ago a man killed a child, got 6 years probation. I don't remember the particulars, but it came up on the news last week. At the same time a person killed a cat--got 2 years in jail and 8 years probation.

Where are our priorities?

I believe that removing the tube is allowing her to die.

I can't believe anyone would want to live as a vegetable. Of course her parents want to keep her. I would too, but also we have to let people go. If she is brain dead and cannot be helped, unless of course we pray and God heals here, she is going to continue in this state. I just know that I would not want to and I cannot believe anyone else would.

Doris, Terri is not brain dead, she is brain damaged.

I don't know whether or not the proper therapy could help or not. It has been reported that Michael Shaivo has withheld any proper therapy. I do know that the contractures in her hands and feet could have been avoided with a simply daily excersice called ROM-Range of Motion.

Anyway, just letting you know that she still has brain function though how limited is what is in question.

What is the extent of the damage? Is it, as Michael Schiavo alleges, so extensive that she is no longer capable of conscious interaction with the world around her, or not?

How would Michael know the exent of the damage Mike when he wont allow a more complete and accurate MRI to be done? There are tests that would give more insight to the mind of Terri but her husband wont allow them. Just as he has denied any physical therapy for her body.
He didnt file a petition to have the feeding tube removed until 1998. Thats 8 years after the accident. If there was so much love and concern for his wife then why not have the best therapies money could buy to aid in her compfort? After all, he was awarded around 1.5 million, 700,000 of which was intended for her care and recovery.

Brian is right. Her husband was awarded a large settlement in a malpractice suit and has spent nearly nothing on her care. She may not need a feeding tube (sideline-my wife works at a medical factory that makes these tubes) but her husband will not allow her to have a swallow test! Brian has a link to a very good web page that contains all kinds of information about the case that the media isn't reporting!
