Well we still don't know much about USC...
THe BEAST is better than the SEC... as of now they are 6-0 in their last meetings.... (see you can read stats anyway you want.)
THe Ville looked bad on D, Not the new players but the old ones. Not being at the right place, not making tackles. but the O is still one of the best.
WVU... not sure what to think. first half a different team than the second.
UC, USF could join the others in the top 25 soon. That would give the BE 5 in the top 25, 5 out of 8 teams.
BIG 10 might as well call them the little 10, the only thing good for them is that Michigan plays ND and ONE TEAM HAS TO WIN.
Fla might be the best of SEC not really sure, they have not had any test yet. LSU looks good but the win of VT does not impress me at all. I think VT is all hype
ACC... Clemson, FSU, Miami... would be at the bottom or at best the middle of the pac of most other confrerences.
I know the season is young but I have not really been impressed with many teams this year. I guess we need at least one or two more weeks to get a good view.
This season does look like it could be wide open, On the Heisman race. Things look good for Brohm. Other players are playing their way out. Like woodson at the kittens. others in close games like Hawaii does not help the cause.

all that says is YOU don't know REAL football.

Yep they might have someone in the NC... WHY because they don't really play anyone. The SEC will beat each other up, as will the BE, and Big 12. The big 10 will let EVERYONE beat them...

Spoken like someone from the East Coast. Sorry, I don't buy it. Pac-10 is usually a strong conference that that normally remains unseen by those not in the pacific timezone.

We're not? I thought we were, bout gave me a heart attack.
VT is overrated.
I could kill UGA.
I really want to see USC play someone. LSU appears to be for real.
Overall the second week did not have much flare to it, but Georgia lost so it was like UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
O well, week three, the let thrash talk begin

Here's my thoughts from the second weekend of college ball, with this preface.
I'm from the East, I live in SEC country but pull for the Big East.
Now having said that here goes.
First going back to Thursday Night. Cincinnati looked good against Oregon St. However, I'm not sure how good Oregon State is.
The little redbirds could not stop St. X or Trinty (powerful High School Teams in Louisville area) let alone a Sun Belt power in MTSU. Good thing MTSU ran out of gas.
Friday Night - Rutgers looked good against a decent Navy team, not a power by any means.
Saturday - Who was those guys dressed up like my Mountaineer's from Morgantown? They were terrible in the 1st half. Could not move the ball, defense had some let downs. Then they found White, Slaton and Devine at halftime and dressed them. Having said all of that no way are they the #3 team in the country, I know they have dropped to #4 but that for me is still a stretch.
Michigan - Good think Carr can retire at the end of the year, he needs to go ahead and announce it now. With Henne hurt and no defense good thing they are playing ND maybe, just maybe they can get a win.
ND - I have yet to shed a tear with them starting 0-2, probably the only tear I'll shed for them is when the win their first game.
Penn St. - Joe Pa has them playing like I'm use to seeing Penn St. play. Maybe, just Maybe they end up winning the Big Ten.
Oregon - Okay Eager and Paully, I'm going to say it here, read very closely. I think the Pac 10 is better than I thought they would be. Oregon was impressive against Michigan. Ran the ball well, and stopped Michigan cold. The Pac 10 race maybe at least a 4 team race, Cal, USC, UCLA and Oregon. And I didn't forget Paully that Washington beat BSU and stopped the nations longest winning streak. I'm glad to see Willingham doing well.
USC (South Carolina) the ole ball coach does it again to the dogs. I think UGA is over rated, and I'm not sure Stafford is going to do that well at QB. UF is going to the be the team to beat in the East as they will hand UT another loss this Saturday. As for the West LSU is the real deal. The beat a good Va Tech team, that will probably win the weak ACC. LSU maybe the best team in the country, and just maybe runs the table. As for all this talk that the BE is not good, take a look and see what USF did to Auburn the #2 team in the West.
One last thing, I think OK is better than most people think. If I had to make an early prediction I would predict LSU/OK for the National Championship game right now. They appear to be the 2 best teams in the nation, but you know what, it's along time till Dec.
That's my $.02

We can say that about almost every team and one point or another so far this season... THE DIFFERENCE is that some of the teams that didn't show up still won.
WVU, the first half sat, The Ville's Def (mainly first half) AU most of the game they were not in it. USF had control and tried to give it to AU several times

This weekend made me sick. Literally. I spent Saturday at my office, but I could neither get the work done or listen to Bama-Vandy because my head was over the .... well, I'll spare you that.
By the way, thanks to the daycare my daughter goes to for the little weekend gift you delivered to our household!
Anyway, here's my thoughts, limited as they are and skewed --
1. Alabama. I continue to be pleased with game management and the astronomic improvement over Mike Shula's conduct of the game. It is like two different universes of football existence. They don't even compare. Decisions made economically, process is king, and everyone is playing a far smarter game even though execution still lacks in many respects. No matter what the score is after we play Arkansas this weekend, I will be smiling if we are managed, ran and operate as smartly as has been done in these first two games. Roll Tide.
2. Auburn. Already in Alabama, the Tuberville post mortems are flying. It is strange how this coach, venerated by Auburn faithful while Bama was after a new coach, boasted about as having a winning record against Nick Saban (which he does) after we hired NS, and generally being touted as the best thing since peanut butter is, after two less than stellar outings and one certainly surprising loss is now ready for the scrap heap, according to those very same fans. Now, to be fair, Bama fans are no better on balance. And, Paul Finebaum (if you're in Alabama, you know him) is the instigator-in-chief of these negative-nellies on both sides of the state. Let me say this and I'll stand or fall on it, whatever: Brandon Cox will have a good season for Auburn at QB, and they will not lose more than 4 games this year. I would only have predicted 3, at worst, before Saturday, but that one's in the books and it was one they should've won. I still say they beat Alabama and Arkansas, lose to LSU and Florida and I still say UGA is a toss up. The Auburn we saw on Saturday is not the Auburn we'll see for the rest of the year. Bank on it.
3. Louisville: Good offense. No defense. I'm sorry, but I just can't get excited for them yet. When they play some defense --- just some --- against a decent team and still ring up 35 or more points and win, I'll give them some love. Right now, I'm just remembering last week's game and wondering how I missed the news that Rick Patino (sp?) was named their football coach.
4. WVU: Didn't see them play, but nothing noteworthy from this team yet. Still too early to say if they've been overhyped. Still, they didn't give up 42 points to ... who was it?
5. Michigan and Notre Dame: 0-4 between them. I don't care who you are, this is good news. Lloyd Carr is on his way out after this season, no matter what, dontcha think?? Is Les Miles going to be the next UM coach?? Hmmmmm. Will Jimbo Fisher return to LSU or remain in Tallahassee to await the nice men in white coats to escort Bobby Bowden off the field?
6. This weekend, by how many points will Florida beat the spread against UT. Now, I'm not a fan of the spread offense. I don't like it, and I think it is beatable by solid defense (remember Auburn last year .. the only team in America to beat the eventual NC's? -- they did it with D, as did Alabama the year before). UT is typically sound top to bottom. I'm not convinced this year. Florida not only wins this game outright, but leaves the spread in the dust; I predict Florida wins 39-18.
7. Can anybody stop LSU before they make the BCS Championship Game? Yup, they can. Who? Florida. Right now, I don't see anyone else doing it. Will they, though? Can't say. Will be THE game of the year in the SEC, though, IMO.

Dolf while I agree with what you said for the most part, Even the Ville stuff. I did see some improvement the second half last thursday. the Cards made some improvement in the second half, but a two really blown plays made the stats still not look good.
I am hoping that MTSU will do good agaisnt LSU and that will make up for the bad game some. BUT then again LSU has seen the Louisville game and they will most likely pack it in the middle and make the pass kill then and that will not happen..

TC wrote:I did see some improvement the second half last thursday. the Cards made some improvement in the second half,
The only thing I seen in the second half was that MTSU ran out of gas. And to show you how bad the "little red birds" are LSU beats MTSU by 40+
