Coming to an End

Can I be a proud daddy?

Tomorrow is my son's last practice and Saturday is his last game... he is 10 and started tackle football this year. He had never expressed an interest in playing until summer, so I put him in a 4 day summer football clinic to see if it was really something he would like. Turns out, he loved it. Our team was an expansion team, all first timers to tackle football so our record reflects that, but that is ok.... he has loved it all. It has been great for him physically and emotionally.

I have even used him as an example of our spiritual walk. He is one of the bigger kids and not the fastest, but he honestly gives 100% all the time. The coaches continually call him out as an example of how to push yourself and give it your all, as that is how he plays. I was watching him at practice a couple weeks ago, watching him push himself running until he was in tears, not stopping or slowing and thought to myself.... "if only I could push myself like that in my walk with Christ".

Out of 20 kids on the team, there are only 2-3 of us who stay for the entire practice, most parents just drop their kids off. I love being there, rain or shine watching him and occassionally helping out.

I am really going to miss it, after the weekend.

Paully,

As a parent I love to hear stories like this. Thanks for sharing and tell your son I'm proud of him too. Keep up the good work you're doing something right.
