So Who Is?

Postby dalebert » December 5th, 2007, 2:13 am

There is so much trash talk about Ohio State not being the best team to play in the NC game. Some have even said that LSU is not the best team as well! Soooo all you crazy sports fan, given this year as how it has unfolded, what two teams do you feel should play in the NC game?

Dale, I've not trashed talk OSU, but I think the consensus is no one really knows who the top 2 should be. An arguement could be made of OK, USC, OSU, LSU, even Va. Tech, but you could debate those as well. The truth of the matter is with the year this has been it is becoming more and more clear we need a playoff.
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right will make no difference." -Abraham Lincoln

Pretty much what I was thinking. There is no definitive choice as to who the #1 & #2 teams are.

IMHO, this is a great year for the BCS. It really shows how flawed it is. For me, either get a playoff system in place, or bring back the old Bowl schedule where all the big boys played on New Years Day. Pac-10 vs Big-10 Champs in the Rose Bowl.

There is no reason, except for the might $$$$, why they bowl schedule should have teams playing until Jan 7th. How much time off will LSU or OSU have since their last game?
Let the wild rumpus start!

Right, i can see no real number one.

Debates, really good ones, could be made for those aforementioned teams.

I wasn't trying to come down on or bash OSU. I was really looking at the system and how it has been exposed of its flaws. I think OSU has a better chance of winning this year than last year. Sorry, that OSU gets the biggest exposure of that. As well as, the Mizzou/Kansas scenerio. Along with Illinois going against USC. I would love to have seen GA or Hawaii playing USC. I would be rooting for Hawaii if they were playing USC or Illinois.

I was just pointing out how we need a playoff (which I guess is obvious to everybody  ). But I don't think we will get one for a while b/c of the money that the BCS generates not only for the big schools but also for the smaller ones too.

Won't Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Vandy get the same amount of money as the rest of the teams that went to bowl games? I believe so.

As far as OSU and the Big 10, I get sick and tired of reading how the AFC is better than the NFC. Of which, I do not think is the case this year. I guess I would need to start a new thread concerning that. But anyway, I can see how the other conferences get sick and tired of hearing that the SEC is better. :D

Well what i really think is that in my life time there will be no play off system for College FtBall. There is way too much money made to go to a play off system. I mean gosh...just look at all the bowl games there are today! Twenty yrs ago there were how many? less than 10?

I douth that the B10 or SEC would vote for a PO system. They put too many teams in bowl games and way too much money comes in the those conf. to let all that money get away!

i really dont know what the answer is.....maybe there is none! But then "if we can send a man to the moon"!.........??? :?
