It is called "pre-season" for a reason. That poll is based on what a team did last year. But here is what I think.
First, UGA will be very good, however they play in the toughest conference in the country, I don't think they will go through the season unscathed. So I do not look for them to play for the NC. May not even when their division in the SEC east.
Second, USC will be very good as well even though they have a young QB this year. Sept. 13 will determine their season, because they play in such a weak conference, out of conference is okay with UVA, OSU and ND.
Third OSU, again will be very good, and if they can get by Sept. 13 could run the table and be undefeated and play for the NC again simply because they play in a weak conference as well and their out of conference schedule includes Ohio, Youngstown St, Troy. Not what I would call a powerhouse schedule.
Fourth - Here is a team in OK that I think you may need to keep your eye on. Granted they play in an okay conference, the South of the Big X12 could be pretty good. Their out of conference schedule is just okay with Cincinnati, Washington, and UT Chatt. However, when they get to the bowl game it seems Bob Stoops has a problem. Still a team I think could be there.
Fifth - FL. Like UGA they play in the toughest conference in the nation so a weak out of conference schedule is not so important. They have the best college football player in America in Tebow, the all purpose player in Harvin, plus they have the Moody kid who transferred from USC. Here is another team, don't know if they can run the table in their conference but their tough games are at home. Could play for the NC.
Sixth - LSU this surprises me but I go back to my opening statement it is preseason and based on what you did last year. Their QB is gone, Les should have gone to the school up north. They will not win their division let alone be in the top ten at the end of the year. Enough said.
Seventh - Missouri will be fun to watch with Daniels back at QB and and Macklin back at RB. Their Conference is weak in the North other than Illinios they play a weak out of conference schedule. Will probably win the north but run into a buzz saw in OK in the Big 12 championship game.
Eight - WV (I will try to be fair on this one). They have their whole O line back along with Pat White and Devine back at RB, they are weak at WR and promise to throw more down field. On the D side they should be okay not as strong as last year. New coaching staff that I am happy about, just wish they would not have hire Bill to be the HC. Conference is getting better, not as weak as some but not as strong as the SEC, good out of conference schedule going to Colorado and Auburn at home. Could run the table and have a shot at the NC, my gut says they win the BE and will be the representive in the BCS bowl for the BE.
Nine - We will find out how good the Tigers are right out of the gate. They play Bama. This is the weakest conference in the BCS in my opinion and no way will the Tigers play for a NC.
Ten - Texas will be in the hunt for the Big 12 South until the Red River Classic with OK, after that, they will fall to the middle of the pack for the rest of the year.
KB here it is, my Pre-Season prediction for the NC game. Florida against Oklahoma.
Can't wait till August 30th.

I agree!!!First, UGA will be very good, however they play in the toughest conference in the country, I don't think they will go through the season unscathed. So I do not look for them to play for the NC. May not even when their division in the SEC east.
I am trying not to bias as well. However, it feels really good to have all this attention. My fear is it will go to their head. I think GA may lose one but I pray not mabye even two. But Richt has got himself a great team and they will at least compete. If they lose only one given their schedule I believe we will play for national title - GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!! Second, USC will be very good as well even though they have a young QB this year. Sept. 13 will determine their season, because they play in such a weak conference, out of conference is okay with UVA, OSU and ND.
Can't stand them so I have nothing say. Third OSU, again will be very good, and if they can get by Sept. 13 could run the table and be undefeated and play for the NC again simply because they play in a weak conference as well and their out of conference schedule includes Ohio, Youngstown St, Troy. Not what I would call a powerhouse schedule.
They will be in the NC by default. They are the new ND, just win a few games and hey you are in. Sorry Dalebert
I agree they are a sleeper team. But seems to me Stoops falls apart every year.Fifth - FL.
They will all be to drunk to play for anything.Sixth - LSU this surprises me but I go back to my opening statement it is preseason and based on what you did last year. Their QB is gone, Les should have gone to the school up north. They will not win their division let alone be in the top ten at the end of the year. Enough said.
I have no idea how they got this ranking. I am with you.Seventh - Missouri will be fun to watch with Daniels back at QB and and Macklin back at RB. Their Conference is weak in the North other than Illinios they play a weak out of conference schedule. Will probably win the north but run into a buzz saw in OK in the Big 12 championship game.
Weak schedule. Could run the table and have a shot at the NC, my gut says they win the BE and will be the representive in the BCS bowl for the BE.
Now I like your boys. My concern is how will they adjust to new coach. The bowl game last year was pure emotion. A great game, but I believe alot of emotion involved. Now we got to see what they can really do.Nine - We will find out how good the Tigers are right out of the gate. They play Bama. This is the weakest conference in the BCS in my opinion and no way will the Tigers play for a NC.
Ten - Texas will be in the hunt for the Big 12 South until the Red River Classic with OK, after that, they will fall to the middle of the pack for the rest of the year.
I agree on both.KB here it is, my Pre-Season prediction for the NC game. Florida against Oklahoma.
Can't wait till August 30th.
My pre-season pick is Georgia/Oklahoma
Like you said. It is pre-sesaon, but let me live alittle okay. Ga has never been ranked number one. So I am going to enjoy it for a few days.

KB I was going to try and paste and cut your post but to large so allow me to address it like this.
First, UGA does not have a great team this year. The days of "great" teams are over and the day of parity is here. UGA is a very good team, but playing in the SEC is a killer, you and I both know that. I do believe that Florida will beat UGA this year, the dance after the first TD last year is going to haunt you all this year in that game. You get UT at home and that will help. You get Bama at home and that will help, however, you have to go to Death Valley and that is never easy and you have to go to Auburn. I think UGA loses at least 2.
Florida has a very good team as well. No doubt Tebow is a very good college player. They have to go to UT and Arkansas but I don't think the Arkansas game will be that tough. They get LSU at home. So I really think their defense will be much improved. Moody will take a little of the pressure off Tebow to run so much. Harvin maybe the best skilled player in the conference. Plus Meyer knows how to coach.
OSU I think will lose to USC, but to put them in the class of a media darling along ND? Are you kidding me? That my qualify as the dumbest thing I have ever read that you posted. In my opinion after the last two NC games that OSU has played in, they have to go undefeated and hope 2 other teams don't to give them another chance to play for the NC. However, having said that next year when Pryor takes over at QB watch out. OSU will be very dangerous.
As for WVU, yes there was a lot of emotion on that game. Emotion over losing the Pitt game the way we did, and last week while I was home I found out from an inside sourse that Fraudriguez threw that game. If the trial would have went on it would have come out. Anyway, they played a great game, however, that defense is gone and only a few guys back. I did not like the hire of Stewart, however, the staff that is around him maybe the best in College football. There are 3 games that stick out to me on our schedule. First- at Colorado, the altitude may get us, good thing it's in Sept, so it won't be near as cold. The Auburn game, but we have them at home. And South Florida, they have had our number the last 2 years, however it is at home as well. If WVU could run the table, with the schedule they have the could play for the NC this year. But that is a big if.
I will let you have your fun with UGA being #1, but you know as well as I when you want to be #1 is Jan. 9th!

The Dolfan Poll (not many changes)
1. Georgia (I'll go with that. Knowshon is a monster.)
2. USC (For now, okay).
3. Oklahoma (I just like their chances a teensy bit more.)
4. Ohio State
5. Florida
6. WVU (I'll be unreasonably optimistic about their new coach. Hey, I'm a Bama fan, I'm used to being unreasonably optimistic about new coaches!)
7. Missouri (Just because I like them, I'm going with this, too.)
8. LSU (Being charitable, here. They can probably start here, but they won't finish here.)
9. Clemson (I'd rank 'em #1 since we open against them in the Georgia Dome in a few weeks. But, I'll take #9 ..... and pray to God's better football graces that we beat 'em.

)
10. Wisconsin (Badgers are top 10 material)
11. Texas
12. Va. Tech
13. Kansas
14. Auburn
15. Az. State
16. Tennessee
17. Brigham Young
18. Illinois
19. Penn State
20. Oregon
21. South Florida
22. Texas Tech
23. Wake Forest
24. Michigan
25. Fresno State

I hope and pray the school up North does not finish in the top 25. I'll be rooting for Utah the first weekend of the season too. And I will be Catholic at least for 3/4 hours on Sept. 13.

Heard on the news over the weekend some more Uga players were arrested in a bar fight and another ran into some drinking issues. I see that UGA is preseason #1, but will they have enough players eligible by the end of the month? Or, does the coach do like other schools and just look the other way?

Great analysis guys but I dont think you give Miles enough credit at LSU (yes I am bias).
They are still deep in all areas but the QB. I think they will end up in the top 10. Hopefully play for SEC Ch.
Its going to be a great year for SEC fans.

I don't believe Richt looks the other way. And a coach, like a father, cannot control everything these kids do. He does take action, though he just suspended his sixth player
Oh well, football begins in just a few weeks

What credit do you want to give him? He won the first 2 years with Saban's recruits. You can be deep in a lot of areas, but in football you only go as far as you're QB can take you. That is a position that LSU is hurting at. Les is simply waiting for the school up north to fire Fraudriguez so he can take that job because he didn't want to be the man who followed the man.
