My Top Ten

Another great weekend of College Football. Man it is quickly coming to an end and I don't like that.

Here it is.

1. Florida - Simply because someone now is going to have to beat them. But I don't think they are the best team in the SEC.

2. Bama - They looked impressive this weekend at Starkville. They will win out and I think they will beat Fl in the SEC championship game and will defeat Texas in the BCS NC game. You heard if first here.

3. Texas - They looked impressive this weekend as well. In my opinion the 2nd best team in the nation.

4. TCU - This team is for real. Can't wait to see them in a BCS game.

5. Cincinnati - My 'Eers gave them all they wanted. I don't think they are as good now as they were earlier in the season. But I still think they will win the Big East.

6. Georgia Tech - The best team in the ACC. But that's not saying much.

7. Pittsburgh - Probably the only time in my life that I root for Pitt is when they play ND. And they won last night.

8. Ohio St. - Big Ten Champs. Woo Hoo, the only good thing about that is we don't have to see them in the NC game.

9. LSU - I wonder if Michigan will make a play for Les this year.

10. Boise St. - Only because I don't want to put another 2 loss team in front of them.

On a different note, what coaches do you think on are a hot seat and will end up being fired?

Weiss from ND?
Rich Rod at Michigan?
Krathorpe at UL?
Of course Memphis and Western Kentucky have already fired their coaches.

Pittsburgh's only loss is to NC State (An awful ACC team) so I don't see Pittsburgh even close to being a top 10 team.

LSU pulled out a 4th quarter win against LaTech at home but Boise beat LaTech on LaTech's homefield and the game was never in question so no LSU is no way better than Boise. Ohio State has 2 losses including a homefield loss to USC who lost to Oregon who got whipped by Boise so no Ohio State doesn't belong ahead of Boise. GaTech has a loss to Miami and even though I think it would be a good game between them and Boise, they still have 1 loss.

1. Florida (Still think Texas can't stop them and they can stop Texas)
2. Texas (Won't stop Florida on the ground)
3. Alabama (Very close but they still can't pass if in a passing situation)
4. TCU (I would like to see them play one of the big 3)
5. Cincinnati (Actually better offensively than I thought)
6. Boise (The least of the undefeated but still good)
7. GaTech (If they fall behind by 2 TD's they are done)
8. LSU (Good defense but in trouble when behind against a good team)
9. Oklahoma State (Best of the other 2 loss teams)
10. Clemson (Because I can!!! 3 losses are to TCU by 4, GaTech by 3 (Away), and a fluke. Playing really well and I have no respect for the Big 10 so I won't rank them.)

I don't think Fl defense can stop Texas, and Fl offense is not what it was with Harvin. Bama will show that in a couple of weeks in the SEC championship game.

We are going to have to agree to disagree with Boise. TELL BOISE TO PLAY SOMEONE

What I don't understand is that you are talking out of both sides of your mouth. You get on me for rating LSU above Boise, because of your this team beat this team so this team is better Philosophy, and they you rate LSU?

And Clemson? A 3 loss team? That is as bad as me rating Boise tenth.

Allow me to remind you that you best of the other 2 loss teams lost at home to Houston. So I don't see how you can rate them.

I know you're right about Clemson but the heart wants what the heart wants. We'll agree to disagree about Boise but you're wrong

I do think the top 3 teams are interchangeable. If TCU isn't as good as those 3, they are real close.

I understand being a homer, which I could put WVU in the Top 10 or for that matter the Top 25.

As for Boise, I think they will fall more in the computer rankings which will cost them in the end. I do hope they play a Top 25 team in a bowl game so they will see they need to beef up their schedule. Then and only then will you realize that I'm right about Boise.

I agree with the top 3 but I'm not so sure that TCU and Cincy both are not right there with them, Cincy especially when Pike is QBing them.

Apparently, they are trying but not having much luck.Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is all but begging for a major opponent – any major opponent – to play his Broncos, particularly in 2011
Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho.

and the teams are just not returning the calls.

Yes, schedules are set years in advance and getting something on the books for next year is relatively soon, but it can be done. Not sure why the lack of interest in playing them.

As for which coach is on the hot seat? I want Weiss to stay at notre dame. I want them to keep up their losing tradition.

Nick Saban said to a reporter after the game last night that Alabama still hasn't played their best football. I hope the best we've seen so far comes in each of the next 4 games. :)

Otherwise, my top 10 looks like this:

1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Texas
4. TCU
4. Cincinnati (Yes, a tie at 4th)
6. Georgia Tech
7. Oregon
8. Ohio State
9. Pittsburgh
10. Boise State

I'm finally on the TCU bandwagon. They're for real. Cincy is sharp, too. There's just nothing about Cincinnati that I don't find something to like.

E Tu Dolfan? You rank Boise below a 2 Loss Oregon team that they beat convincingly? You cannot be serious. A Pitt team which lost to NC State ranked above Boise? You rank Boise below a 2 loss Ohio State team which lost to USC which now has 3 losses including a 27 point loss to Oregon? Give respect to Boise. They are undefeated and better than any team with a loss including a GaTech team that I like (Although a GaTech/Boise game would be a scoring rampage).

You've got to admit attorney, I have made a solid argument.

Well, I suppose, given your argument, we could rearrange the top 10 this way:

1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Texas
4. TCU
4. Cincinnati (Yes, a tie at 4th)
6. Georgia Tech
7. Penn State
8. Ohio State
9. Boise State
10. Oregon

I don't know that there's a lot of difference between 10 and 7, actually. Pitt could just as easily be #11. Beating ND is not a big cause to celebrate these days, and it was a close game. But because Boise beat Oregon, and there's going to be at least one 2 loss team in the top 10 (and I still firmly believe LSU is overrated), I can see this as a reasonable reshuffle. Either way, I don't see a big difference unless you're Pitt. It would be easy to slip Penn State in at 7 and cite their schedule over Pitt's, then just squeeze everyone else down except for flipping Boise and Oregon. Let me say this another way: Boise beat Oregon, so that's done. I don't think Boise can beat anyone else in the top 10.

Well now you've got Penn St. over Ohio St., when Ohio State went to Happy Valley and handed Joe Pa and Company a whipping 24-7. I liked your former list. I agree, that Boise could not beat anyone in the Top Ten including Oregon again. But that won't happen now will it. I think Pitt is better than you might think, and they just might beat Cincy in about 3 weeks.

You know, I forgot about Ohio State whipping Penn State. And, it was a whipping. I'd flip them around. I was trying to express a few things, there. First, we could tinker with the list and move someone around a position or three even and from 7 on down, there's probably a case to be made for each team to be ranked higher than any of us might rank them. Second, I still say LSU is not a top 10 team; they haven't beaten anyone who is in the top 10 all year despite having played two teams then ranked there; plus, they were one bad effort on one play away from losing to Miss. State. I think Pitt is probably top 10, but if there's a team in my original list that had to go, it'd be them. The first team I'd reach down past 10 to move up would be Penn State; that's how I arrived there.

Because Boise did beat Oregon and it did get decided on the field, I couldn't rank them higher than Boise. All that means is that Boise beat Oregon. It doesn't elevate Boise above every team that Oregon beat, such as Southern Cal. It doesn't turn Boise into a powerhouse.
