Ole Miss Fans
Just read on CBS Sportlines that Snead is leaving for the NFL what are the folks in Mississippi saying or think about this?
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. Not an Ole Miss fan, but he just has not shone that he is really all that good. He has some good moments, but he is not consistent. Maybe, he knows all the players that made him good are gone. In that respect, I'm not surprised, but I can't see him doing ANYTHING in the NFL except carry a clipboard. He has gone down hill since the Cotton Bowl win against Texas Tech.

I really hate to see Jevan go, in spite of his down year. In reality though, his junior year mirrors Eli Manning's junior year almost stat for stat. However, Eli came back, corrected his problems, and strengthened his draft position. We have no QB experience beyond Jevan, and I'm afraid that 2010 will be a rebuilding year for the Rebels.
Jevan has actually completed his degree, thus he would only be coming back to play football. Most people don't realize that Jevan had personal tragedies to deal with this past year. He lost his grandfather to death, and rumor has been that his family has suffered severe financial losses. Regardless of any financial troubles at home, Jevan is likely making a smart move. He is projected to go by the 4th round, though late would still include around $500k signing bonus. The salary cap talks and impending strike for next year most likely factored into his decision as well.
Without his interceptions, which many were actually not his fault, he actually has decent stats. His two year stats are as follows:
375 of 678 passing, 55 percent, 5,394 yards, 46 passing td's, 33 int's, 135 rating, 161 rushing yards, 6 rushing td's, 2 Cotton Bowl Championships.
Personally, I am thankful that we've had Jevan for the past two years and wish him the best in the NFL.

Didn't know about the family finances. I can understand the move, then. But, I still think it is a mistake from a purely football point of view. I hope he goes lights out and succeeds big time.

I think he goes ahead of Tebow due to Tim's poor throwing mechanics with the left hand. I don't have a clue in relationship to the others.

Unless the combines shuffle them, don't you think Clausen will be the first QB taken?? I'd put McCoy then Bradford after him. After that, I have no idea. Tebow? We'll see how he does in the Senior Bowl and what they have him doing at the combines.

I'm not sure if Clausen will go before McCoy or Bradford, it's possible since both of them were hurt and not sure what you have with them. However, here's a couple of more QB's to consider. Tony Pike from Cincy, had an outstanding year, especially after coming back from a broken wrist, the Canfield kid from Oregon St., and probably one of my favorite is the the LeFevour kid from Central Michigan.
I think think the thing that hurts Snead is all the hype and he never really lived up to it. I do think another year in college would really help him as it would Clausen.
As for Tebow, I know about his mechanics, but the guy does nothing but win, can a team work with his mechanics and improve them?

Tebow has a similar motion to Kerry Collins and they said the same things about him. Collins has had a good career but not great. We'll have to see but I agree with PastorRob. Tebow is a winner. I see Snead as an early to mid 2nd rounder.
I see two impact quarterbacks in the draft - Clausen & Bradford. I see 5 possibles and they are the ones mentioned including Snead. Unless a team is desperate, I wouldn't use a 1st round pick on any of the 5 with the possible exception of Tebow.

Okay guys, in all seriousness, help me. I'm not that impressed with Clausen, what am I missing? I think McCoy, who left as the all time wins leader as a QB is better. Clausen, never did much as ND. So honestly help me understand what it is about him that he should be picked over, McCoy, Bradford, Pike, or LeFevour, or even Tebow.
