Baked Tilapia

Postby A2JGirl » December 10th, 2008, 5:46 am

I tried TW's "recipe" from another thread! I baked tilapia filets in tin foil with butter, lemon pepper, garlic, and I added dill too. I have never cooked fish before (fish sticks don't count!). I liked it, but it was a little strong tasting for me. I have never had tilapia so I don't know if it's always like that or if it's just the way I cooked it. It was good though and I'd like to try it again maybe with a milder fish. Any suggestions?

My husband loved it though!

We love tilapia and never experience a strong taste so it was probably the lemon pepper and garlic.

We love it with rice and a bit of butter and season salt.
I have piped unto you, and ye have not danced!

No, the strong taste was fishy, not of lemon pepper and garlic. But I wonder if something I did brought out the strong fishy taste. Hmm.

A2Jgirl,

Did you rinse your fish well? I always run my fish under cold water and gently rub it while doing so. This usually eliminates any fishy taste. Fish is my favorite "meat" of all.

Oooh!!! I can't wait! I had grilled swordfish in a fancy restaurant in Williamsburg, VA and I LOVED it. They brought their fish in fresh every day straight from the coast.

Where do you find fish like that around here (Nashville area)? I wouldn't have the slightest idea where to start... maybe at Publix! Ha!
