New Huckabee video

Postby Full Quiver » January 1st, 2008, 7:46 pm

story

Of course this story has been all over the news today but I was watching Hannity and Colmes this evening and they had Mike Huckabee on. They specifically asked Mike about the negative ad that he made yet decided not to run. They also played the video for us viewers. Huckabee played dumb like he could not believe they had seen the video or even had it to show. He kept saying he didn't know how they had it.

In the "unreleased ad" Huckabee says about Romney, if a man will be dishonest to get a job then he will be dishonest on the job. What's the old saying say about the pot calling the kettle black? Does Mike have a theology degree or not? I have a diploma but not an honor's diploma. I have credits in electrical engineering but I am do not have a degree in the field.

Huck knew exactly what he was doing but once again has played the Christian card. Because of his faith he felt it was not right to "release" the ad yet he did in essence release the ad but his campaign did not have to pay for it monetarily. They may have to pay for it in votes though and should if people will wise up to Huckabee's deceptive ways.

Neither Hannity or Colmes was buying what Huck was selling tonight. Maybe the folks from Iowa will. How about you RP?

I am on the Huckabee mailing list (gasp) and here is what he sent out about this:

Mike Huckabee wrote:12/31/2007
Yesterday, I flew to Little Rock to cut three new television ads with our campaign team. The first "Our Values" will air in Iowa and discusses my unwavering commitment towards a Human Life Amendment. The second ad which will air exclusively in New Hampshire called "Tax Cuts Matter" discusses the first broad based tax cut that I passed in Arkansas' history. You can view both ads here.

The third ad was a negative attack against Governor Romney. We prepared it, sent the ad to the television stations here in Iowa, and it was supposed to start running at noon today. This morning, I ordered my staff to pull the ad; I told them I do not want it to be run. If it was run at all, it would be until the stations pulled it off their schedules. And we are now committed, from now through the rest of the caucuses, that we will run only the ads that talk about why I should be president, and not why Mitt Romney should not.

Back in October when I stood in Washington, DC before the Values Voter Summit delivering a speech to the attendees I reminded them that "we stand for some things, we believe in some things..." We do indeed:

I believe in the Human Life Amendment and will work tirelessly for it's passage.

I believe the FairTax is the best way to unleash our economy in the 21st century.

I believe and have always supported the passage of a federal constitutional amendment that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

I believe we must secure our borders, end amnesty and end sanctuary cities.

I believe our country must be energy independent.

I believe that we are currently engaged in a world war. Radical Islamic fascists have declared war on our country and our way of life.

I believe in the Surge.

And I believe that Americans aren't interested in politics that divide us, they want their leaders to focus on what will lift them up and make things better.

I almost forgot that today in the face of the withering barrage of criticism we have endured over the last few weeks from my rivals. I say almost, because our negative ad won't run.

I know we believe in the same things. It is these things, these ideas, that have bound us together in this campaign for President. These ideas are why you first became interested in me and these ideas are why I am running for President. Let everyone know, that we are campaigning for these ideas and that we are working overtime to lift America up.

With deep gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

FQ, I have a recommendation for you....DON'T VOTE FOR MIKE HUCKABEE! If you want ME to not vote for him, then you need to tell me why SOMEONE ELSE is better, and not how much of lying sleeze-ball jerk Huckabee is.

I really don't care what you think of Huckabee. You sound just like James Carville with all your negative talk about the other guy. I have asked you before, but you still haven't answered.......WHO IS BETTER AND WHY???

tell us why we should

Postby Full Quiver » January 2nd, 2008, 7:03 am

So why ARE YOU voting for Huckabee? WHY is he so GREAT Steve? Is it because he is a CHRISTIAN?

He says he believes in the fair tax yet he didn't propose a fair tax in Arkansas. Has he changed now? He was a tax and spend liberal as governor but we are supposed to believe that he won't be as president.

My mind is not made up but I am fairly certain that Huck is not on my list. In 2000 people ran crazy with Bush. Oh he's a Christian we should vote for him and now look. Sure he's done some good things, but he was not necessarily the best Repub. for the nomination. But since people went haywire and said Bush, Bush, Bush he ran off with the nomination. He has failed miserably at defending our border, had a Republican Congress to help get it done, but refused. He's a liberal of all liberals in his spending practices.

These primaries are supposed to be an interview process of sorts. If you or I jump on someone's bandwagon full force before the interview process is over then we cheat ourselves and possibly our country. How can it not bother you that Huckabee lied about his degree? He does not have the integrity to be CEO of the USA.

I too have my reservations about Huckabee. Although he talks Conservative the talk, I'm don't think he's walked the walk. His record just doesn't match his words to a great extent. I like what he says, but will he do what he says?

Fred Thompson may not be the out and out darling of the evangelical Christians, but his actual voting record bears out strong conservative values.

How is Huckabee a conservative? If he is one, I suppose I need to reassess if I am one. Big government, tax and spend, open borders. I don't care if he could issue an edict enforceable by jail that there would be no more abortions, no gay marriages or civil unions, and that he would never, ever make another commercial of any kind, we'll still all be worse off with him as president. He believes the government should be more involved in your business and that you should bear the cost of immigration --- legal or not. He gives the Fair Tax some lip service, but does not explain in any terms how his version would keep Congress from continuning to twist America's arm into desired conduct under the taxing power.

When I saw that Ed Rollins is his campaign manager, I chuckled out loud. Two words: Ross Perot. I don't care that he worked for Reagan -- Reagan could certainly have won without him and Mike Huckabee will never, on his best and most glorious day in this life, compare one whit with Reagan on his worst.

No time to talk now, but I still have not seen EVEN ONE independent example from anyone bashing Mike Huckabee that he was a "tax and spend liberal" or that he had "open borders" or any such thing.

And by the way, the Fair Tax is a national proposal, not a state wide one, to my understanding.

Examples, anyone? Anyone????

the illegal immigrant's man is Huckabee

Postby Full Quiver » January 2nd, 2008, 2:35 pm

Gov. Huckabee also opposed a 2001 bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote, and he opposed a federal roundup of illegal immigrants from his state in 2005, calling those who supported such a thing "racists." He also had the audacity to compare the attempt by illegal immigrants to evade the law to the struggle against slavery. "One of the great challenges facing us," Huckabee said, "is that we do not commit the same mistakes with our growing Hispanic population that we did with African-Americans 150 years ago ... I think, frankly, the Lord is giving us a second chance to do better than we did before."

independent enough?

his score on immigration

The danger is a serious contender for the nomination who passes the litmus test of social conservatives on abortion, gay marriage and gun control but is far removed from the conservative-libertarian model of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

$5.25 per day bed tax on nursing home patients

As far as his record goes when offering clemency goes.....Whitewater figure David Hale, a government witness in the trial that forced Gov. Jim Guy Tucker's resignation and let Huckabee ascend to the office, was pardoned after being sentenced to 21 days in a state insurance case. Huckabee complained it would cost too much to hold him. The price tag: $1,200.

When asked what the explanation for his rising in the polls was....."There's only one explanation for it, and it's not a human one. It's the same power that helped a little boy with two fish and five loaves feed a crowd of 5,000 people and that's the only way that our campaign could be doing what it's doing.

And I'm not being facetious nor am I trying to be trite. There literally are thousands of people across who are praying that a little will become much and it has, and it defies all explanation. It has confounded the pundits, and I'm enjoying every minute of their trying to figure it out. And until they look at it from a just experience beyond human, they'll never figure it out. And that's probably just as well. That's honestly why its happening."

I added the last quote because we usually cringe when folks portray themselves as God's man for the hour. I suppose some do not though.

And to think I had his banner on my Myspace. I really like Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson, but since Chuck Norris backed Huck I figured he was ok. But the more I read the less I like. Thanks FQ for bringing "New Light" on this matter.

Mmmmm... Let's see... First election: Bush or Gore? Second election: Bush or Kerry? I think America got it right. I voted for Bush. Have I agreed with every decision and action by this administration? Absolutely not, but I am for certain we are much better off than what could have transpired or what will transpire if Hillary Clinton becomes the next President.

Now can you remember who the GOP nominees were in 2000?

George W. Bush, TX
Lamar Alexander, TN
Gary Bauer, KY
Pat Buchanan, VA
Alan Keyes, MD
Orrin Hatch, UT
Dan Quayle, IN
Elizabeth Dole, NC
Steve Forbes, NY
Robert Smith, NH
John McCain, AZ

Are you saying that George W. Bush was the most qualified of these candidates to run our nation? Was/is he the most conservative?

Now, I'll tell you I find that scary. The idea that God supports a particular policy about immigration spending is presumptuous at very best, and perhaps much worse. But, even worse than that, is this colossal failure by Mike Huckabee to understand slavery, as the governor of a former Confederate state who ought to have a better grasp of history than to even begin to compare the wholesale capture and expatriation of a race of people and to make their very bodies commodities here versus the comparatively benign folly of open borders and the Mexican government's insistence that those borders be accessible so that it's government can benefit from American dollars on top of its theft of many of our jobs without so much as an "it was nice, I'll call you." He really thinks God is giving us a second chance to demonstrate that we are not a slave-owning society by ........ paying very low wages in cash money to people who are violating our laws by their very presence and whose primary and immediate economic benefit flow to the very same exploiters of these people who, in many ways, are very much like the slaveowners of Arkansas. He has grossly misunderstood what God requires in that case (justice, mercy), and he has so unbelievably missed the mark by contending that government can even begin to provide that justice and mercy AND he's doubled the error by letting the church off the hook for what he obviously sees as an injustice to Hispanics. The nanny state of Mike Huckabee is the perfect replacement for the church of Jesus, and hey, God is giving government a chance to take a whack at it. Gee, whiz, Governor, thanks.

I knew what you typed and also knew this is the response I would get.

I see no one on that list that I could confidently proclaim would have beaten Al Gore, other than Bush. George W. Bush may not have been the most qualified, but he was the darling of the conservative south and then some, just as Al Gore was the poster boy of the liberal media. Gore was absolutely too strong with the liberals. It took hanging chads and dimpled ballots for the Republicans to win as it were. 8) Seriously, I think much prayer to God brought about the results of the 2000 election.

Personally, I liked Alan Keyes from that list.

Huckabee

Postby SBW » January 3rd, 2008, 4:45 am

It is hard to believe that out of all the millions of people in this great country of ours, the only choices for president, on both sides, is so pitiful. We don't have much to choose from. Ronald Reagan is the standard I measure all politicians to. I'm afraid there will never be another.

With that being said, Mr. Huckabee is my only choice at the moment. He is a good moral man, and I agree with most of his stands on the issues. Go to his website and click on the issues link.

What he says about immigration:
I oppose and will never allow amnesty...
I oppose and will not tolerate sanctuaries for illigals...
I oppose and will not tolerate employers who hire illegals...
I oppose the economic integration of North America that would create open borders among the United States,
Canada, and Mexico. I will never yield one iota or one inch of our sovereignty.
I will take our country back for those who belong here. No open borders, no amnesty, no sanctuary,
no false Social Security numbers, no driver's licenses for illegals.

He is also for the 700 miles of fence and the 300 miles of vehicle barriers. He wants to have the fence installed, with cameras operational by 2010.

Yes, that is what he says (now). I'm more interested in what he DID when he was governor, which was totally antithetical to what he says now. That's why I'm sticking with Fred.

SBW, This moral man Mike Huckabee that you speak of did contrary as governor but says now he is changed. Romney supported some things as Gov. and now says he has changed but Mike H. attacks Romney on those points and will not allow a cushion of change in him. Sounds pretty fair and moral to me to expect to be treated one way while treating someone else another way.
