I watched part of the mission program. First I will say that overall the webcast is very good, especially for the first attempt.

The parade of nations and the welcoming in of South Korea to the Fold was a little sad. Sad in that the gospel has been in South Korea for more than 50 years.....And it is home to several of the largest churches in the world, of which Yongi Cho's being the largest and Spirit filled. It gave the impression that South Korea had finally received the Gospel. ( In this case the One Fold Message ) Even more so when you consider that South Korea is the largest missionary sending nation in the world second only to the US.

I know the intent, and the purpose of what was done...but it is so out of touch with reality. I don't mean this as a mean criticisum, but just my own observation from outside the box.
You cannot effectively love and minister to others when you are obsessed with protecting
and preserving yourself.

As one watching from afar, I find it really hard to keep track of who is in which group.

Think of them as tribes. Each group a tribe, some smaller some larger. Are we at 12 tribes yet?

The only problem with that is that some of the tribes have split into other tribes, and the only son of Jacob whose sons were counted as tribes where Joseph's. But, I am surprised someone has not used this angle to preach a variation of the "church message" yet.

Besides, just look at the church family tree diagram and you'll see we surpassed 12 several "tribes" ago. :P

my wife who wasnt around for this kind of thing in cogop thought it was a little strange with the wedding dress and all. way out of touch with reality. but it seems to me they have come along ways since the assembly that elected the go. from what i heard that was way off the charts.

The Bride of Christ?

Postby FLgirl » August 8th, 2008, 11:52 am

I think I was there that year. It seems to me that during the youth march that year they had a dummy/mannequin attached to a pole, dressed in a wedding dress, holding a church flag, that they carried around. It was a little surreal. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Hey! That works.
Let's see add to that...

Tomlinson (Homer) COG
Mills COG

Kent COG
Doffee COG
McNaab COG

Wilkins COG

That's 11. Seems we are one shy, at least on just the COGOP side (with independent works not included).

Funny thing is that MCNabb says that very thing; that they are tribes.

Eva and I go way back for 15 years. I love her and her precious children and I have babysitted them quite a few times. Her Dad was our beloved Pastor until he died, and I now attend church with her Mama and her husband. Her sisters and their families are also my close friends and I have taught all her nieces and nephews in Gleaners and Sunday School. We have an extensive history and I was just saying hi to her and her family. I'm sorry I caused offense. Please Forgive me.

Love ya'll too.

Love
Tammy Washburn

BTW. Sis. Peggy just did an excellent job. I am watching her on the internet in the hotel room because we didn't get in in time to see her in person.

Got to go with the last name of the current living leader, so Tomlinson (Homer) is out, as is Kent. Now if we past 12 then we can through in the "Joseph" rule of two for one. Any more and somebody ain't part of the family, they are ... well, I will not say what they are.

Ahh, I see.
Are you sure that is the way you want to do it? It could get even more confusing with some of the organizations changing current leadership more frequently than others. I would think citing the founding "patriarch's" (GO) name would be a great way to designate each representative tribe. Where the same last name might cause confusion one could substitute the called name for the surname.

For instance...

01. the Tomlinsonites COG
02. the Homerites COG
03. the Millsuzites COG
04. the Kentines COG
05. the Doffeerites COG
06. the McNabbarites COG
07. the Pruittites COG
08. The Wilkinsonons COG
09. The Carterstines COG
10. the Naborsites COG
11. the Phillipsites COG.

Also, for the purpose of the "want-to-be tribe", which is the biggest of all Jewish tribes, we much now say "Howard ben COG". That should make Karen feel welcomed.

Howard ben COG. ROFLOL!  :P  :P

Come to think of it she might really warm up to Kent's core group and their "New Testament Judaism" concept. :P

And I love you as well Tammy. But the organizations are not showing it to one another. They can't get allong so much that they have to split and split and split. I'm not singling any out. Individually, you are all very loving people, until some from the inside disagrees with something someone else on the inside has said. An organization cannot call it's self the exclusive body of Christ if it cannot pass the basic test of showing love one to another within the organization without chain reactive and exponential division following.

I saw Justin in the media control booth of the live feed. Bro.Gerry would have been proud of him. Such a smart and hansome young man.
