I hope the family had a good sense of humor!

I'm sure at some point down the road they'll be
able to laugh about it & their grandkids will find
it hard to believe.

Can we hijack this thread & turn it into an
"odd things that happened at funerals" thread?

I had a minister friend that shared once when
the ground was muddy he slid under the casket
and into the hole & another time when it was
cold - the funeral home brought a portable
heater to the burial tent & he stepped back
too close to the heater & caught his coat on fire.

I was at the funeral of my former employer & during
the middle of one of the songs - his son jumped
up & grabbed the widow & started dancing in front
of the casket.

Any other unusual funeral experiences?
If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

At one church the casket fell thru the floor.

At the furneral of a boy of long time friends of the family, I was shooked when Randy Travis's song "I Going To Love You For Ever Amen" came over the speakers. O well he would have wanted it that way.
God Bless

I want to die like Grandpa, quietly and in his sleep; not like the passengers in his car, they were all panicking and screaming.

I have had many strange things happen at funerals......

I had a funeral where a young lady with a new born baby came in and walked up to the casket and said......"this is your daddy". He never got to see you, but he loved you."

The wife was sitting there and I had to remove the young lady from the room. It was about 30 minutes before the funeral.

I knew the young lady.......it was not pleasant.....

Dr. Ron, how about a book of stories???
"...The life you see me living is not 'mine,' but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that."- Galatians 19:20 (The Message)

Yep, what she was saying was true......and he had another girl friend in another town who was his beneficiary on his insurance (250,000) with another baby.......He was 68 years old and was killed in a car wreck when he hit a cow in the middle of the road.

Dewayne, my boys have been asking me to write a book of experiences ....I think I might just do that.....although if the people on J2 don't believe them, why would anyone else???

Seriously, I have had some interesting things happen.

How many of us have seen Baptism services go amiss has well?

IE...the lady in the tube top
the jumping child
pastor who looses his footing
outdoor baptisms that have animal intruders
I want to die like Grandpa, quietly and in his sleep; not like the passengers in his car, they were all panicking and screaming.

Strange funeral

Postby JustJay » March 6th, 2009, 6:39 am

I had a knock at the door while I was pastoring. A family that didn't attend church asked me to preach a relatives funeral. My pastor friend and I went. He did the obit and I preached it. There were 11 songs played just after the Obit. They were all on CD. The first one was Eye of the Tiger then Knocking on Heaven's Door(Axel Rose version)... And it all went downhill from there. What had happened was when the funeral director told them they could have music, each friend picked out a favorite song. I had the priveledge of sitting facing the congregation and keeping a straight face.

I never will forget hearing the beginning of Eye of the Tiger. (air Guitar)
Jut........Jut/Jut/Jut.........Jut/Jut/Jut.........Jut/jut/Jutttttttttttttt.

Yep, I sat through the LONG version of "Free Bird" ......10 minute guitar solo.......

Then I had one guy who only wanted Elvis songs....ended with "Trilogy".

Worst was the guy who wanted "All MY Roudy Friends" ......
