What do you think is motivating people to register to vote in record number this elections year?

There are a lot of people who do not like the President and this is causing many people wanting to vote him out of office. As a favorite Democrat slogan goes "Anyone but Bush!"

Interesting and a question about the election.

Postby Mole_J » October 5th, 2004, 8:23 pm

I was going to post this in the VP debate thread, but I ask a question at the end and do not want to hi-jack that thread. So here goes:

I find this very interesting about the election polls. I been visiting this site lately. Thanks Mike for this website 8) It takes polls from a state and give the electoral votes of that state to that candidate.

Since last Friday's debate, I thought for sure that Bush may lose some of the electral votes in this poll. As they would be getting new polls in some states this week that would include people's view of the debate. While it is still early in the week and I am sure other polls will come this week, Bush's lead has increased here. From Bush 296 - Kerry 238 to Bush 321 - Kerry 231.

I was just reading the website the owner of the website (who is a democrat) changed the site to keep state from changing very quickly and it takes an average of the polls for the past 7 days. So this Friday should reflect the debate from last Friday.

Just a side note, I was thinking today about the news reports of places getting a record number of people registering to vote. It shows there is a lot of interest in this election right now. I was wondering what is causing this interest. I came up with three possiblities maybe more:

1. There are a lot of people who do not like the President and this is causing many people wanting to vote him out of office. As a favorite Democrat slogan goes "Anyone but Bush!"

2. People like the President and trust him to lead the War on terrorism and believe he needs 4 more years to win the war or greatly decrease the worldwide terrorist groups' ability to attack the US.

3. People feel John Kerry is a political opportunist, he says what he thinks his audience wants to hear and really has no core beliefs and do not trust him to the President.

I have a feeling this election is going to be a landslide victory for whoever wins. Not sure why, but I just get that feeling.

I somewhat lean towards #3 myself, what do you think? Do you think this will be a landslide victory for whoever wins?

I agree in many ways with otions 2 and 3 ... but voted other. The other has to do with Conservative America and especially the upcoming new Judges to be added to/replace others on the Supreme Court.

This story on FoxNews.com rings true to me. Conservative voters, as evidenced on this very forum, are getting out the vote because of 2 core issues they consider non-negotiable and crucial to the survival of the America we know and love: preventing same-sex marriage and reducing/eliminating abortion.

I said I smelled a landslide for Bush a few weeks ago. Nothing has changed my mind so far. There is a quiet, deep groundswell of support that I hope will be so overwhelming no amount of trumped up "election fraud" claims, "keeping minorities from voting" scams or other distractions will make it even look close enough for a recount.

Here is another good site for looking at electoral votes:

This currently shows Bush ahead 284 to 200... I believe.

I am certainly aware that this is not the determaining factor but where I live, Bush/Cheney signs outweigh the Kerry/Edwards signs by 3 to 1.

I think both sides are doing a good job of recruiting new voters. I think the dems are wanting to make sure they win (as compared to the whole mess last election) and the republicans are realizing after the last presidential election how close we were to having President Gore and what trouble we would be in now.

What is amazing to me is that even here in Westmoreland (where I teach) there are A LOT of Bush signs. This is a rural, predominantly old school democrat country. No surprise to me is that in Hendersonville, you are hard pressed to find a Kerry sign. In our neighborhood, one popped up. Within two days, the majority of the neighborhood had put up Bush signs. It was funny.

Bush said with his own mouth "that we cannot win the war on terror". Why?

I think someone is doing too good.

Drudge Report Radio Sunday night said tht Franklin County Ohio has something like 115% registration of all eligible voter. That's EVERY male, female of voting age in the entire county PLUS more than what the US census has estimated.

I'd have trouble believing 75% of eligible voters.

Democrats have shot into Knoxville Bush Hq, ransacked Orlando and stolen computers out west.

I repeat: I believe the Democratic party is the most evil political organization since the National Socialist Party of Germany.

I think the issue of how close things were in the last election, coupled with the EXTREME differences between the two candidates has got more people ready to step up and vote.

That sounds a little dramatic! :D

I marked other, because, even though Bush has taken some heat over the war, I think many Christians/conservatives are preparing to vote this election. I know those of us in Florida are very mindful about how nerve-wrackingly close it was in the last election. It can really come down to a small number of deciding votes, so we can't afford to be slack about this.

It's our responsibility to vote and also be in prayer for the upcoming election, and I do believe that we will have a godly man in office next term.
