Wow. As a seminary student I take offense at those kind of remarks.

I wonder why pentecostal preachers even bother. There's an anti-intellectual bias built into our heritage that makes people ridicule those who try to improve their education. I have heard my entire life preachers who thought they were clever pretending to slip and say "...he went to cemetery... I mean Seminary... same thing -- both full of dead people!" I didn't expect that from you, though, and it disappoints me. :(

I am looking for that scripture where John the Baptist publicly boasted about how anointed he was. Help me find that, since you are saying the two are comparable.

Parsley comes across, to me, as an egotistical blowhard. Sorry.

Response: I wonder how that the scripture saying how that John the Baptist would comparatively rank with the fullness of a relationship with Christ applies.

To me it is understood that Rod Parsley, who I have not listened to in years, attributes everything he is and ever will be to Christ. It is disingenuous to claim he is boasting anything else. It borders false accusation.

If I say, I am annointed to preach, called to preach, yada, yada, and fail to mention, because I assume that everyone knows it is by God, am I boasting?

Surely one will say I am righteous in Him.

Do you all really believe Rod Parsley fails to understand his strength comes from the Lord.

It is a little too nit picky for me.

Then again he may have gone slap nuts and I just don't know the extent of his failure in Christ.
What we need here is a good revival! lol

Pastor Gary,

Surely, you understand me better than that. :? I guess not. :( I included a wink and a smile to show my lightheartedness.

My statements were not meant anything as you have framed them. I apologize for not being clearer and offending you. "Seminary" is a relative term. I am not opposed to education (secular or religious), even though I was never truly encouraged to further mine.

My remarks were pointed to those from "seminary" groups who become so educated that they are cessationists (is that a word) and unwilling to accept the gifts today. Of course, this was not directed toward you as I know you accept the gifts and anointing of God.

I possibly could have chosen a better word than "seminary" or explained myself just a little more in detail? I apologize again for your offense.

Blessings,
pa
