Way to go Dawgs. I had almost missed you grumbling and complaining about the youth conference. Almost. :D

the south is convenient for me, but moving it elsewhere is fine, my biggest thing is let's move it back to July!

It's a week earlier this year, but still runs into school for the kids, and right in our busiest time at the college getting ready for the start of classes.

location and time should be looked at. late july and atlanta and we would have one of the largest attendance in years. of course july and nashville would be great to. late july and somewhere in south carlina, memphis tn. you get my drift. its not about convience its about the area that will see the most attendance. i know what some will say, well then, what about africa? same with youth conventions Mr. Danger. IYC also.

I thought that they did Atlanta a few years ago and had complants (though there is possibly a better venue in Atlanta than the one they chose).

That was prior to me joining the CoGoP, but I heard comments about it, I think it was 98 or 2000?

my mistake, I thought it was in Atlanta just before Louisville, but it probably was the youth conference I was thinking of.

So has it only been Cleveland, Louisville, and Nashville then?

Although I'm not COGOP I'm going to suggest an alternative site. This one should remove all argument about the location being in the southeast.

Lebanon, KS

The official geographic center of the lower 48 states.

Would this help y'all out?

Before Nashville was twice in Louisville. They tend (or did in years past) to negotiate two consecutive Assemblies at a time --- supposed to be a better deal that way, plus the logistics get easier doing the same venue set-up a second time.

Wasn't it in Dallas before Nashville?

Traffic bites throughout Nashville but I would avoid anything around Goodlettsville since I-65 south bound from there is better known as a parking lot than a thoroughfare during the morning and afternoon commutes.

Actually, the afternoons are usually pretty clear going into Nashville from Hendersonville/Goodlettsville area. Drive it all the time and I can usually make it into Nashville in about 15 minutes during the afternoons and early evenings.

Perhaps you are thinking of Fort Worth, which was before Louisville, if I am not mistaken.

Traffic in Nashville is the same as in any other city. Traffic inbound in the mornings (rush hour), no matter from what direction, is going to be heavy. In the afternoons (rush hour) outbound traffic will be equally problematic. The real problem with Nashville traffic is that many of the people sitting behind the steering wheels don't drive their cars (SUVs and trucks included), they "aim" them.
