It was jest at some here that believe it's ok to lie and even be blessed of the Lord for and by it but God forbid you give a coworker a slice of cheese.

You are taking the argument on "lying" out of context and belittling what people were actually saying.

Saying you are charging someone for a regular hamburger and giving them cheese is not only lying, but stealing as well and both are wrong in this situation.

No, mac did not say that you could undercharge people and still receive the blessings of God. Again, you are building a straw man by taking something out of context.

and you said the above which I read no where else. The person was given an extra slice of cheese. But if it was a lie then by Mac's religion one could still be blessed by God. may lose your job at McDonald's but be blessed by God either way. Of Course losing a job at McDonald's probably is a blessing

From my days in retail, it was found that over 90% of loss was internal, meaning employees were stealing, discounting, or simply making errors in inventory management.

A slice a cheese or a pen doesn't seem like much, but when you do a yearly inventory and have to write off tens of thousands of dollars for one store, it adds up.. Multiply that by however many chains or stores are owned by the company, you have a huge problem on your hands.

That's why loss prevention managers make so much money. They investigate these things and help to fix the issues.

BTW.. I spent 4 years with Staples, and eventually got into Management with them. Great company..

I agree that in retail the small things kill you. When I was still a business owner before I moved and took this job, the economy was great and work was plenty.
I had 16 installers and when things were good you do not keep up with every dollar but I started to add things up and this is what I found.

One contractor would take off $1000-$3000 a week for odds and ends etc. (stealing from me) I added it up and he took me for approx $100,000 in less then a year.
Next when my installers would go to our distributors to pick up material etc. ( the job i have now a territory manager for a large dist.) they would add 5 gallons of finish here and there, sand paper etc.
Nobody was allowed to order except me and my Dad but somehow my installers were getting materials. I found out one of the warehouse guys at the dist was there friend and his dad owned a flooring business as well. they would order on my account and sell it to his dad....... Surely 25k lost there as well maybe more, by the time we caught on it was to late and I could not prosecute.
I also had a lot of wood stolen from my warehouse but I found the installer that took it and I gave him a choice, to confess and pay me back or go to jail, he chose to confess.

Point being small things add up, when a recession hits the smalls things would have helped greatly!
