Did you ever read Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin? I've read it twice and cried almost all the way through both readings. It's by far the most emotive book I've ever read.

Did you know it was inspired by a vision that she received? Ms Stowe was taking communion in her home church and saw a vision of a black man being beaten and dying for Jesus' sake. When she went home she wrote down what she had seen, and told her husband that as she wrote as was as though God was speaking through her, telling her exactly what to say. She had also read an article like this and knew this event had actually happened. Her husband also encouraged her, they believed God was leading her to write the story, which was also based on many articles she had read of factual accounts. So, the reason the story moved you so much, and so many others,(Lincoln credited her with starting the war, and she was credited with creating two million abolitionists) is not only is based on truth, it was given to Harriet to write it, as Harriet used her writing talent for God.

Thanks for saying that. As far as I am concerned, it represents the greatest vision of goodness and love that Christianity has to offer or is even possible.

It is right up there... God has a plan and purpose for each one of us and gives special gifts and talents...I think it is so amazing that He lets us participate in what He has to offer by giving us the chance to extend grace to others and show His glory on the earth, amazing.

There are many great stories like hers in our nation's history of people who dared to obey God and who were used to fight against slavery and other injustices, revealing God's glory. I am reading, "Living Under God" by Toby Mac and Michael Tait, highly recommend it!

Funny, but historically ignorant.

I highly doubt that Lee would have been offered Command of the UNITED STATES forces if he was most likely to seceed.

But that's modern day thinking: Truth is the short clever phrase.
