Week 9 Thoughts

Postby KBevangelist » October 29th, 2007, 4:47 am

Hard to believe how fast this football season is flying but here we are in week 9.

Here are my thoughts!!!

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!

Tn beat SC in overtime. I cannot stand either of their coaches, but o well. ( I just need TN to lose one more  )

OREGON should be ranked in the top two -

BC had an incredible comeback.

Wva beat up Rugrats I mean Rutgers

AZU still keeps winning.

Kentucky has slipped some since beating mighty LSU. (SURE NEED TO BEAT TN)

I still think Ohio State is overated. Penn State is not that good - but they were ranked so that helps Ohio State keep their place in the polls.

Overall it was great weekend of football.

So what do you say sports fans ------------------

I hate Oar-E-Gun...... that said, watching them this year they are incredibly talented. Their QB Dixon is amazing. The game this weekend between them and ASU Sun Devils will be a great game.

Yes, yes, week 9...

MS State beating UK... Boy, did they play hard from start to finish. I am proud. We have some ways to go to be in the same category as UK, but we're making strides. The defense made him make some mistakes. I count that to State. Go State!!!!

I'm with KB. Oregon is playing some great ball. I would put them at number 2.

I was rooting for USC to beat TN.. I can not stand TN..

GA beating FL was a great game. Mark did a great job of getting his players excited about this game and that they COULD beat them. It was fun to watch. They did not let Florida intimidate them.

I knew Penn State was going to lose that game. I don't see Ohio State winning out. But you never know...

As Kirk Heirbstreat(sp) said on ESPN, "Who's Louisville?" Boy have they have left the national scene...

South Florida goes down again...

I was hoping Cal would pull that game out. I have somehow began to like the golden bears.. I think they're my Pac Ten team.. hehehe

I LOVE football...

UT will be more than glad to fulfill your wish. I can easily imagine we will lose three more.

By the way, the best player for UT in the whole second half was SC's kicker. We didn't deserve it but we will take it.

What do you have against Fulmer. You don't like christian coaches that donate almost all of their free time to help prevent teen suicide and work with other charitable organizations? Or is it because our coach doesn't demand his team get an unsportsmanlike penalty just because we did what we were supposed to do...go and score.

Hey, now. I don't know about Fulmer, and I don't care, but Richt is as fine a Christian man as any who ever coached the game of football. The penalty was planned to get the team motivated, and it worked. Anyone who knows Richt knows that this is not something he commonly does (witness him shoving players off the field who were celebrating during the Vandy game). He did it in this case to pump up a team who badly needed pumping. We constantly let Florida beat us, year in and year out, so he had to do something to motivate the team.

And it worked.

DaJudge, it's time all of us SEC fans realize that we are a bunch of dumb hicks that don't really know anything about football and accept the fact that teams that just have one or two tough games a season are by FAR the much superior teams to our little measly podunk schools. Just celebrating for scoring a touchdown against Florida (which the TN School for the blind and Ohio State and Oregon can do) is total amateur hour and has no place in college football.

i dont have a problem celebrating a touchdown but not for the whole team to come on the field at once? I think that went across the(goal) line sort of speaking....

If that was ever a form of tauting i dont what is?! Whats next..have the whole team run to the middle of the field and step on the other teams logo? Again i think it displayed a poor tatse of judjement from the coach. There are other ways to motivate players! I dont know the coach and he might be a great guy...just a poor call IMHO....Again i am glad that the dawgs won!

If you people would bother to read what the man said, you would know that he didn't intend for the whole team to come off the sidelines like that. He wanted just the team on the field to do it. The players misunderstood and it got out of hand.

"I was envisioning the guys on the field that were on offense to go celebrate until the official threw the flag," Richt said. "I didn't tell the whole team to run off the sideline and go celebrate. I said I wanted it to be a team celebration. I didn't really expect the whole mass to run off the sideline. But when they started running, I was like, 'I guess that is what they heard me say.'

u da judge whats ur call? I guess this is a lesson for coaches/leaders to be more clear in commincating uh?

I can't even believe men are engaged in this discussion. What has happened to this emascualted, testosterone-drained bunch of coaches and athletes?

Here's my thoughts on week 9:

When you look at this week as compared to prior weeks it was really boring. No real upsets. I know UConn beat USF but not as good of an upset as UK beating LSU.

I thought UGA going on the field was a real statement by Richt. Knowing how upset he gets by his team being flagged for penalties, I think he was sending a statement to Meyer and the rest of the Gators that UGA was not afraid of them.

Did not get to see Oregon or ASU in their wins. For that matter have not seen those teams all year and I agree with Herbstreit on this, teams in the west are at a grave disadvantage to the voters on the east because we just don't see their games.

I was shocked at how easy OSU defeated Penn St. I'm beginning to believe that OSU is better than I thought, but one thing for sure Tressel can coach, no doubt.

UT beat a good USC team and looks like Phat Phil will save his job by winning the SEC east.

Here's my Top Ten:

1. The Ohio State University (like I said I think they are better than I think they are)
2. LSU - before you start crying SEC, I think they are the class of the league, and I think they deserve to be #2 in the best conference in the country and will probably win the SEC West and the conference championship Game.
3. Boston College - Because I think they have the Heisman Trophy winner in Ryan.
4. West Virginia - They are coming on strong and if they had not had 6 turnovers at USF they would be #1.
5. Oregon - Haven't seen them play but they did go to the Big House and win.
6. Oklahoma - talking about the most overrated team in America, this is it.
7. Arizona State - either them or Oregon will fall out next week.
8. Kansas - can you imagine OK - KU for the Big XII championship and we are not talking basketball?
9. Missouri - Of course the tigers would like to play in the Championship game.
10 Georgia - After they way they manhandled UF how could they not be in the Top Ten.
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right will make no difference." -Abraham Lincoln

I agree Pastor Rob -

Only thing is I would move Oregon up a couple of spots, but agreed on all the rest.
