The Masters

Postby Paully_44 » April 15th, 2008, 5:23 am

I am a bit tired of all the questions regarding Tiger and the Masters. Trevor Immelman leads the masters from start to finish and wins.... yet the main topic on ESPN and sports radio is not how well he played and dominated, it is what part of Tigers game failed Tiger causing him to lose.

Give the man his due and let him enjoy his victory over Tiger.

Tiger "puts butts in seats" as they say in the entertainment industry. He's a big draw, and brings in bigger ratings, so of course the sports guys are going to talk about him. (But I agree with your point Paully)

What more could you expect from ESPN, the network of Tiger Woods, the LA Lakers and the NYY/BoSox rivalry.

Paully, I seen this coming on Sunday after Tiger missed the putt on 13. No I am not a Tiger fan, nor am I a Tiger hater, my daughter loves him, but as a fan of golf what he does on the course is amazing.

However, let me say this too, the big debate is Tiger the best golfer of all time? I don't think so. For several reasons. First, Tiger is playing on much better golf courses, than any of his predecesors, including Jack, Arnie, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones. The equipment today, clubs, balls is so much better as well. Which has caused the golf courses to be lengthen to unbelievable yardage. 7400 yards on a golf course who would have thunk it.

Now tonight it's report that Tiger has had surgery.

I'm like Paully, Trevor won, lead from start to finish, and played great. Way to go, maybe we will have a Tiger/Trevor rivalry.
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right will make no difference." -Abraham Lincoln

I heard a stat on him a few months back, saying of the tourny's he has entered, 80% of those he has finished in the top 10. He truly is an amazing golfer.

This same arguement can be held in most major sports. Pitcher threw more games, played more innings. Outfields were longer, fences further back. Bats were much heavier, no technology to help the player like today. And yet The Babe put up the numbers he did. That is why, in my mind, he is the all time best.

Heard that too, on his knee. Out for at least a month.
