Interesting letter

Postby AllenNope » November 11th, 2008, 5:30 am

I do not know much about Dutch Sheets but he has put some thought provoking comments regarding our nation and the recent election. It supports Dr. Ron’s thought about abortion and the sanctity of Life being the number one issue.

Is this the same Dutch Sheets that stretched out on David Brainerd's grave to soak up the annointing? Same guy?

I am glad to have someone in my company.

The letter is well written and thought-provoking.

I remain steadfast in my position that this is at the very heart of the rest of our issues.

Thanks Allen , for bringing this to our attention.

You're just jealous that you weren't the one that discovered spirituality by osmosis.

You are correct... this is an interesting letter... But I have one question... How can we say the election results were not "God's will"... Doesn't he have the power to do as he wishes... Did he not have the power to say no... Seems to me we should say that "God allowed" or "this is part of God's plan"... Obama could be the person God allowed to be in office to set His bigger ultimate plan (the rapture) in motion... Help me here... Am I wrong??

You do make a point. Saying that Obama being elected president was not God's will implies to me that it was God's will for McCain to become president. Not even taking into account the foolishness of one of the candidate's even being "God's candidate", I think that Mr. Sheets might be saying that he believes God would have ideally wanted McCain to be president, in the same way God would want us not to sin and do as he commands, but we make the choice of whether or not to obey. Evidently, we chose not to perform God's will, and that's why St. Peter will be cranking up the plague machine.

At least that's my understanding.

yes it could have been God's will for Obama to be president. That does not mean by any means it is because he is in favor of Obama or his positions. Now it does say that God may have allowed this to fit his will for us.

Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

I don't think you are wrong at all...and He is still in control.

If Mr. Sheets wants to impress us with his soothsaying, he might have at least gone to the trouble of learning how to correctly spell the name of the President-elect: Barak [sic] Obama.

The purpose of Mr. Sheets's pronouncement is nothing more than a "public record" to which he will, from time to time over the next four years (and very selectively at that), point back in an attempt to burnish his reputation as a modern-day prophet.

The man is a fraud, and his currency within the body of Christ is a testament to the power of the forer effect.

all or nothing????????????????????

Clearly NT you are not a fan. I do not know enough of him to pass judgment.

The idea of abortion being the only important issue a Christian should be concerned about has really made me think. I can say easily the sanctity of life is the most important issue. But I see the sanctity of life in more ways than just in life versus death in abortion. I also see and hear things different than most people do. But let's talk about abortion and pro-life versus pro-choice.

The statements below may sound that I am one of those Obamaaniacs, I assure you I am not. He is neither the great one/savior nor the great satan that he is made out to be.

Truth: Obama is pro-choice.
Truth: Obama has voted the majority of time in favor of abortion. However you cannot believe everything you read or hear from Fox or the republicans about voting records or specific bills.

Truth: McCain states that he is pro-life
Truth: McCain has not put forth any legislation for pro-life and his voting record again is pretty shaky when it comes to pro-life legislation. Again the voting records may be framed a thousand different ways.
Here is the problem. McCain states no solution, no attack on the pro-choice movement, and did not state that he would appoint judges that would be pro-life. Even if he did state it this does not guarantee they would vote in favor of pro-life.

Truth: Obama did say that no one was in favor of abortions and that he would push legislation that would reduce the number of abortions (saddleback debate: make adoptions easier and cheaper). I know this may be just talk. But it is talk that is better than no talk at all. Neither candidate appears to really hold value in the sanctity of life.

Viewing it this way shows that a vote for McCain would still allow 50,000 (or however many) abortions a year would continue due to the fact that McCain has stated no plan to address it or stop it.

A vote for Obama gives a chance that less than 50,000 abortions would occur if he follows through with a plan to reduce the abortions. Ideally would be to eliminate all abortions and all sin. If I can’t do that then I may put my support behind a person that is pro-choice but will do their best to reduce the number of abortions or reduce the amount the US government pays. (I do not think this Obama).

Is it truly a one side take all? Or is there a common ground of people working together to reduce the number of abortions and the financial support that is behind it?

I have to say I mentioned that McCain would do nothing to stop regular abortions just as NO other president has or will. Sadly

Partial Birth abortion was a wonderful victory under George Bush but that is about as far as it is going.
Now Obama may over turn the partial birth abortion which would be more murder.
