No one who is objective enough to care! FLUKE!

USC is overrated...any time they beat a big opponent they suffer a letdown the next game. Ask Oregon State's 2006 and 08 teams.

WA is DEFINITELY overrated, at least at this point. Oregon got robbed of a Top 25 spot...they beat a tough team with the nation's longest winning streak, even though Masoli tried to make sure it didn't happen.

Yeah, where is Oregon? I agree they're one of the top 25 teams in the country. Congrats to Washington, though. They gave LSU a very good game. They won't sneak up on anybody else now, though.

I think the overrated team of the week is Florida. I'm guilty, too. Tennessee is improved over last year, but not enough to have given the team-we-have-been-hyped-to-believe-Florida-is the kind of tough, hard-fought game they gave them. I'm sick of watching Tim Tebow holler on the sidelines like he's the coach of that team, and sick of watching Urban Meyer promote this guy like he's the ultimate ultimate in football. I can't wait until he's in the NFL. Thwack!

And, can we please stop with the GQ Tebow image? Gee-bow? Tebow better enjoy the limelight though. If the NFL lockout happens next year, he'll be all dressed up with no place to go.

As far as I'm concerned, and IMHO there should be NO RANKINGS until after the first Saturday of October.
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. 11. Should read Virginia Tech. Virginia hasn't won a game. I would believe a team with no wins was ranked #11 only if that team was Notre Dame.

I will now give my unbiased opinion on the final College Football Standings. Take notes but do not wager using my great insight. I will feel convicted if I find out you used my prognosticating abilities to make money. I will feel better if you send me an offering from your winnings. I know many of you will not be happy but it is not my job to make you happy. I am a bearer of truth...so NAA! :blblb2: :blblb2:

1. Florida
2. Boise (Should play Florida in National Championship game but won't because of Penn State. Instead Boise Plays Texas in a bowl and wins)
3. Alabama (Only Loss MAY be to Florida & Should be playing for the National Championship but probably won't because of SEC Championship game- Not a big SEC fan just stating the facts. Beats USC in a bowl.)
4. Penn State (Will Play Florida in National Championship game. They will lose.)
5. Cincinnati (This is a tough one because they may lose to Pitt in final game. I say they lose one and then win their bowl game against Virginia Tech)
6. Mississippi (Loses two including an upset this weekend and a loss to Alabama before winning a bowl game against Oklahoma)
7. Texas (Will lose either to Oklahoma or Oklahoma State. Loses bowl game to Boise)
8. USC (Won't play anybody decent and they had their one fluke)
9. Florida State - (Loses to VaTech in ACC Championship but wins their bowl against LSU)
10. Ohio State (They play Cal in a bowl and win)

Pastorbps, I don't even know if Bama will win the SEC West. Anyone can beat anyone in the SEC on any week. Certainly, we've got opponents coming up who're good enough without having to rely on that even. The more I see of Ole Miss, the scarier they look. We'll get a better idea of how Bama will match up against them after we play pass-happy Arkansas this week. Let's hope we can win that one --- and I'll worry about Ole Miss in 2 more weeks! I said all that to say that I don't know if Bama should be ranked #3 or not. Although we handled Va. Tech, and I say "handled", not throttled, that was week #1. Pretty much anything can happen in Week #1, so I remain unsettled about how good we are.

Boise State. I saw that game on Friday night. I'll tell you I don't like that kind of football. I just don't. No defense out there. It's like watching 100 yards of basketball. But, I also know because of what happened with them vs. Oklahoma a couple of years ago that they can have an offense that's good enough to overcome a lack of defense. It has to be in a shoot out though. I don't like shootout football. So, I'm biased, and I don't put them at #2.

Personally, right now, I think Texas is the best team in the country. I still think Florida is second best, regardless of this past Saturday's rather lackluster performance against Tennessee. Throw in Alabama, Ole Miss and Penn State in any order you want after that to finish out the top 5, and I think it'd be tough to argue against it today.

I think you are referring to BYU and Oklahoma and not Boise St.

Boise State beat Fresno State 51-34, and that was with Fresno still threatening or at least making a game of it in the 4th. 85 points is a lot. I just don't like football games with so many points in them. I prefer a game with about half as much scoring (as long as my team's ahead by more than 8 points!!! ).
