Site issues

Postby Jeremy Gault » February 23rd, 2010, 5:40 pm

All,

Okay, seems that during a migration to a newer/bigger server some months back, someone (who shall remain nameless) forgot to move over a tiny (but important) little script that tidys up the databases, etc. behind the scenes (to keep the site running fast.)

Unfortunately, over months of use, the database got a bit bloated and that was causing the site loading issues.

This script has been restored, run (thus optimizing the site), and scheduled to run every few hours again (as it used to.) The person responsible has had their network cable ends removed in order to keep them offline.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully this will fix all of the site loading issues... if it does not, please let me know. Thanks!

Okay, see if anything is better now...

Basically, I managed to snag a copy of the database and moved it to another machine on the 'net that I admin. It's not the most optimal way of doing it (sending database traffic across the Internet), but I can monitor it more closely now and it will help us figure out if our database iss imply too big (surely not) or we need to look at a better database server long-term.

I'll try to keep an eye out too -- but if you continue to have trouble, please keep me posted.

Hmmm..ok... do you know what time they sent those? Wondering if it was before or after I moved the database.

I still got errors today when loading the page. It was after you posted on here. I read that post and then had difficulty off and on all afternoon. I got the "oops" message, and then got an internal server error. I tried to email webmaster@jude2.com and it was returned undeliverable. This is the first time I've tried to get back on since this afternoon.

Just an FYI.

I'm not getting any errors, but load times for the past week or so have been notoriously slow. Just an fyi.
