"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

I like Donna Morgan -- dancing and singing in the doc's office. The pastor's comment: "We're still crazy, just not as crazy as they thought we were." :lol: Good attitude, take it in stride.

We went to church this past Sunday morning at a local pentecostal church. They had a lively time the likes of which I hadn't seen in many years. Even when I was pentecostal myself, I didn't understand why the folks I loved and worshipped with were so eager to have and see those experiences. But, on the other hand, I can easily recall the feelings I had when I had them. I was just never able to bridge the gap between those experiences and feelings and the reason for them. And I suppose that, as much as my own studying about it all, was a reason that I decided that I would not continue to be pentecostal as a Christian. Still, I smiled politely and genuinely at what I was watching because I know those people mean what they do because I know them.

This video plus our church visit last Sunday (btw, we do plan to keep going there for now) simply confirm for me that none of us have Him figured out. :lol:

Hey, I'm a SON and welcome whatever my Big Daddy wants to show me today. :wink:

We're in His box not the other way around.

Great Report.

I also liked the pastor's comment that Faith does not have anything to be afraid from Science, Science confirms Faith.
"Why would God allow Hitler his chapter in history? Why would God send a whale to swallow Jonah or turn a woman into a pillar of salt? Surely there were other ways. But I'll leave the particular methods of God to God."

That is very cool.
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

it is interesting. but "proof" it is not. depends on the hermaneutic on Scripture in that context and reference, i suppose. :)

No disrespect, but I don't think it was posted to prove anything, or that the study touted itself as proving anything -- except that the speech center in the brain shows little or no activity when people do it. The news reporter said it is consistent with pentecostal claims that God is doing the mental/willful part of the speaking while the person is just a conduit (I don't recall she used that exact word, but you know what I'm saying). I think everyone in the story, as shown on the link at least, was careful not to say this is an equation and you land on 'x' when you run it.

But, I know you like anthropology, Rambo. You have to admit that this is an interesting news piece about that kind of study.

no disrespect taken. yes, i said it was very interesting. but my point was that sometimes Christians are looking for a "proof" (or are taken to be/percieved to be), as intimated/insinuated in the comments and in the video. was it specified? i don't think so, but an "outsider" looking in, could (would?) assume that from some of the comments.

While I do agree that science and faith are not at odd with each other; and when there is disagreement with truth in science and truth in God's Word, then we don't' understand one or the other or both.

that's all. just that we should be careful how we represent our faith and truth claims. the pendulum doesn't have to be swung fully either direction to be pointing to truth.
Thanks, Brent "RamboPreacher" Hoefling
